Feelin' Festive (No Not That Kind)

With our latest little update, we've added some festival buildings and décor to help bring joy to your player-base masses!

So toot those trumpets and roll out the flags, because the festival is coming to your MMO towns! For this contest, we want to see the finest festivals your MMO has to offer. The VectorStorm favorite will be crowned Discord Jester 2023

Start Date: Feb 14!
End Date: Feb 28!

Do you have to make a new MMO or can you design a new Zone in a already existing one?
And do we show off our creations like the last competition?
Is modded content allowed or not?

Yes, yes but on a much smaller scale haha only a screenshot or two needed, and yes within reason. I don't wanna say no mods but I also don't want them to be an advantage.

So how does this work, do we take SCs of our festivals?

Yeah exactly, then you post them here 🙂

I made quite a decently sized project. I think I'd need a fair few pictures to show everything off.

onyx gull
#

Hahaha that's fine too!

shadow snow
#

Well I'll see what pictures I'll need. Might be a bit of spam as I give a bit of lore too.

Right, I've gathered what I need. I actually came up with a lot of lore for this, so this may be quite lengthy. Apologies in advance.

#

Introducing the city of Jundip, and a suspiciously busy looking field... You can ignore the rest of the world not being created. Please.

#

Before you look at the festival, I just want to show off this castle. Completely unrelated but I was really pleased with this!

#

Anyway, here is the Festival of Knowledge! This event is held every year and is hosted in one of the fields outside Jundip. It is an event that celebrates the prosperousness of Jundips citizens, and aims to bring together great teachers from all walks of life to inspire the new generations.

#

(1) This is the entry booth. The festival is free for all to attend, so here they hand out pamphlets detailing where and what events are taking place.

#

(2) On the right side we have some comedy routines that aim to teach the younger visitors. The teachers here are extremely talented individuals who are members of the board that sponser this event, so they're very well known. In fact, at the back is some stalls that sell their merchandise, books and pre-built inventions. Despite targeting a younger audience, they're quite popular among all ages.

#

Performing today at the blue tent is The Mad Technologist. He specialises in showing off gadgets and contraptions that can be made at home by anyone, and even some basic potions. When there's a big crowd he'll sometimes show off something a bit dangerous that he doesn't teach. You can see there's some broken barrels at the back. That's from his last performance, where he showed off this thing called 'gunpowder'.

#

At the red tent is The Grand Giver. She specialises in magic, and does impressive magic shows to inspire members of the audience to learn it. Since magic can only be learned by having a strong control over ones own emotions and thoughts people usually have to seek out a mentor that will guide them in personal step by step lessons, so she can't exactly teach magic but rather shows off simple and practical uses of it that most that are accustomed to the basics can emulate in their own way.

#

(3) On the left is the games corner. Here they set up tournaments of people of similar skill levels and give out prizes for the winners, to improve skillsets. This particular game is a target hitting game. It can be either machine shooting, bow shooting or axe throwing.

#

This is The Great Jundip Cook Off, where contestants compete in one versus one speed cooking. Speed isn't everything though, as the judges will also score based on taste and appearance. With three scoring catagories, each round is fresh and exciting and it's a popular sport to watch.

#

We also have a simple flying competition. Not many citizens own a mount or can gain a familiar, so this is one of the few times they'd be able to learn to fly. There is also competitions among strong fliers which can be seen from anywhere in the field.

#

(4) One of the most popular sports is combat, as adventuring is extremely popular. Here at the arena tournaments are held among strong combatants of all kinds, from magic casters to soldiers. Occasionally captured monsters are released into the arena to test competitors, and especially strong monsters can be thrown in against multiple fighters!

#

(5) Here is The Big Top, which is the big event for many. Unlike everything else, this event visitors need to pay for. All of the most knowledgeable and influential of the land are invited to speak here, sharing knowledge previously not known to many, or techniques hard to master. With the event taking place in a big top, the event has earned the fan name of TOP Talks, much to the irritation of the organisers.

#

(6) And finally, the behind the scenes. This is where all the staff stay when not on duty. They also house the arena competitors here in between rounds.

#

If they have any monsters currently captured, they'll lock them up here under the staffs watchful gaze until they are slain in the arena.

#

That do be the end of my tour 🎊
