I think it'd be cool if, for probably the full release of the game, the devs add an offline mode that allows you to play the Stages.

Have it only allow you to play as Base Sonic, and only allow an offline version of Quick Rumble.

If offline mode and LAN match mode had been available, we wouldn’t have lost this excellent game after its shutdown.
