I have a toolhead not listed in the examples. I have attached the cad file if someone can help me guesstimate the values that would be awesome

what i currently have

#

i cant figure it out using the pictures provided so any help is awesome

azure nacelle
#

yes I did it always seems to pull the filament past the cutter too much jamming things when it retracts

buoyant stump
#

...so reduce retract

azure nacelle
#

like when i go to change lanes not normal retractions

#

I havent gotten that far yet i just got it to the point where I am trying its first lane changes before a test print... i just got the macros working correctly

#

this is a new boxturtle unit

Yes, ```# Distance to retract prior to making the cut, this reduces wasted filament but might cause clog

if set too large and/or if there are gaps in the hotend assembly

*This must be less than the distance from the nozzle to the cutter

variable_retract_length : 20```

#

Not retract in the slicer, retract in AFC_Macro_Vars.cfg

azure nacelle
#

ah i didnt see that value

#

how far from the nozzle should the be in theory like up past the heatbreak?

buoyant stump
#

what hotend?

azure nacelle
#

Im using a rapido 1 UHF

buoyant stump
#

I would start with 10 then, Rapido doesn't seem to like retract too much

azure nacelle
#

ok

buoyant stump
#

you'll also want to change pushback as they go hand in hand typically

azure nacelle
#

so if i retract 10 i want the pushback to be like 8

#

looking at this as well

buoyant stump
#

sounds right

azure nacelle
#

so if i measure from the cutter blade to the top sensor and add 8 for the pushback that should give me the tool_stn value

buoyant stump
#

more or less yes

azure nacelle
#

so so far
variable retract: 10
variable pushback: 8
tool stn: 14.418(cutter to after extruder gear sensor)+8(pushback) =22.418 (used bottom sensor since im using 2)

#

and stn tool unload is from the nozzle tip to past he top sensor right?

#

and what for this value tool_sensor_after_extruder: 0 # Extra distance to move in mm once pre/post sensors are clear. Useful for when only using post sensor, so this distance can be the amount to move to clear extruder gears

wide violet
#

It is if you have a sensor after the extruder

#

if you don't have one, ignore it

#

And we generally don't recommend needing one

azure nacelle
#

i have two im using the wwg2 with pre and post

#

for tool_stn_unload measured from just above the pre extuder sensor to the nozzle i got 118

azure nacelle
#

i guess i just leave it at zero

#

testing it

#

it got stuck in the toolhead again

#

nevermind it looks like it cut the filament and didnt pull it past the tool start sensor

wide violet
#

you probably need to increase your tool_stn_unload then

azure nacelle
#

now i get this

#

even though it says tool start is triggered

we will hope this works today

azure nacelle
#

seems to have worked

buoyant stump
#

great, termbin was having issues earlier this week.

azure nacelle
#

Was able to get through one change but it looks like it's getting stuck on lane 4 change was from lane 2 to 4

#

and lane 2 to lane 3 works

#

lane 3 to lane 1 same error

#

lane 1 is getting stuck ike lane 4

buoyant stump
#

please be more descriptive

azure nacelle
#

It is getting stuck trying to respool

#

I have to tug the filament a little bit to get it to move

#

Only lanes 1 and 4 it partially retracta then I hear the motor in the box turtle spinning with no movement and I have to tug it a little so it continues to spool

#

ok I reset the tension knob and cut off the old filament with some gear marks and it worked once trying one more time

#

Got it to happen again

#

Something took a chunk or stretched it?

#

mustve been that huh lane 4-1 just worked

#

trying a test print now
