I had box turtle connected and decided to update. I've backed up the old configuration which was very minimal only enough to get it connected and running. Anyhow I installed the new version and no matter what I do I can't get it to work. I am left with the following error. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Please help. Clipper log I'll attach in a couple minutes for now this is my error message screenshot. <@&1304550334839918672>

Do you happen to know what version you were on prior to hitting update?

bleak acorn
#

Unfortunately I do not

#

To be honest it doesn't really matter what I had in my configuration I've tried blowing it out and reinstalling it a couple times deleting the AFC directory even

#

I always end up with the same end result

fresh warren
#

You've reinstalled via the shell script and are still getting this?

bleak acorn
#

I know what PIN numbers I need and I know my basic configuration I still need to actually configure everything and run the calibration so we could gladly start from beginning

#

Yes I used the gooey command line program from terminal

#

It made the backup for me

#

But after going through its process it fails and I'm not sure why

#

I'll do it over one last time and report back

#

I'm going to erase the old installation using the program not mainsail

#

I'll take a couple photos along the way

fresh warren
#

I think its just in disarray from mailsail, I'd bet you were previous to commit 1255 which is where it became safe to use mailsail for updating again

bleak acorn
#

Yeah unfortunately I don't understand all that stuff. I'm always scared to hit update within mainsail

#

Sitting down now to uninstall and reinstall

#

Just removed using the r

#

Last night I hit the update command initially

#

I'm restarting the system right now just to be sure and I'm about to add my can bus ID next

#

I just got it working

#

It turns out my utoc was acting wonky

#

Sorry to waste your time

#

I guess I get the proceed now on to the fun

You guys changed the pin number from AFC to turtle instead

#

So it didn't recognize AFC as a pin name

fresh warren
#

Ahh! ok.

bleak acorn
#

It took me a long while to figure that out

#

I do have a quick question while I have your attention

#

Where do you guys connect your tool sensor after your extruder?

#

Do you run it to your tool board or do you run it to your printer board or do you run it to AFC light

fresh warren
#

I dont use one personally, ideally you'd want a spot on your tool board so you dont have to run a long wire.

#

I use only an entry sensor and its wired to the X end stop position of my tool PCB as I have the endstop pod on the gantry.

bleak acorn
#

And my next question is, I'm using a mellow sht36. Gpio 16 is set for my ex stop. Gpio 20 is set for the internal filament detector in the extruder. I'm curious where you would connect the extra because it doesn't have a gpio pin available unless I tried gpio 21 or 22 from the BL touch Port

#

I may be wrong on gpio 21 but there's two gpio pins in the BL touch Port

fresh warren
#

I dont see why the probe gpio wouldnt work.

bleak acorn
#

Well the issue I was having initially was I attempted to hook up two filament detectors on the sht but it wouldn't play properly

fresh warren
#

Maybe skim over the docs for the board, make sure theres nothing weird

bleak acorn
#

I could only have one or the other and I wasn't sure if that's a limitation of the sht36

fresh warren
#

You dont need the lower sensor, it will only be used for tool_stn.

bleak acorn
#

When I was attempting to do a trigger on the BL touch Port I could only get it to trigger for a split second I couldn't get it to stay working

#

Okay I'll ignore that and disable that for now

#

I'll just use the entry sensor

#

Is there a way to visually determine if either of your end stops are working for the filament detection

#

Is there a command I can test the status

#

I put an LED trigger on the two entry sensor so I have a visual

#

But I was curious if there's a way to determine otherwise

#

And one other question I'm so sorry to harass you

fresh warren
bleak acorn
#

When you're running the AFC calibration

#

Yeah that's what I've been following

fresh warren
#

That will get your endstops showing up on mainsail on the machine page

bleak acorn
#

When you run the AFC Auto calibration with a tool entry sensor, do you have your tensioner released for easy passing of the filament or do you leave it enabled

bleak acorn
fresh warren
#

You shouldnt need to have any tensioners "open" during printing, maybe im not understanding the question

bleak acorn
#

Long story short, if you have a hold current set on your extruder it'll be tough to let the filament pass through the gears.

#

Or if I have the tensioner lever enabled it'll be tough to pass through the gears

fresh warren
#

AFC will pulse the tool extruder to load the filament in.

bleak acorn
#

So I was thinking if I release the tensioner so that the filament passes easy then it should be able to detect it with the trigger endstop?

#

I just got to stop over thinking it and proceed LOL

#

That's where I'm at now I'm doing the configuring or calibrating

fresh warren
#

Lol yeah, bascially BT Moves filament to your tool, tool extruder grabs it, BT becomes an assist extruder,.

#

On unload it will cut/tip form (depending on what youre doing) retract the filament out of the extruder past the entry sensor, then rewind it using the BT's extruder and N20 motor.
