#HELP NEEDED

We're currently trying to set up Wings on a local server to connect to the Pterodactyl panel hosted on a VPS via a WireGuard VPN. The VPS (which acts as both the VPN server and panel host) is reachable, but Wings simply won’t establish a connection, and we're stuck figuring out why.

We’d really appreciate some actual support or at least ideas on what to check or try. So far, browsing this Discord, I’ve only found surface-level answers and no real explanations for similar issues. There’s a clear lack of detailed documentation or examples when it comes to setups involving VPNs like WireGuard, which makes debugging much harder.

Staff responses here also tend to be quite general and don’t really help narrow down the issue. I’m not trying to be negative, but I think there’s value in providing actual guidance or at least asking the right questions until the issue is pinpointed—so that a trace of that solution stays here and helps others down the line.

Right now, it feels like people are left sitting for hours or even days with no direction because there’s simply no accessible information or discussion about these kinds of setups. It would mean a lot if support could engage a bit more directly and help identify what's going wrong.

Pterodactyl has features to enable use of proxies, however we cannot provide support for proxies as it adds great complexity to the application set up. Troubleshooting complex network setups involving tunnels and proxies is extremely difficult to do without access to that network. Supporting complex network issues is outside the scope of this support.

Please explain the issue you're experiencing in as much detail as possible. Preferably with error messages in a text format or paste link to logs. Nobody can assist you without information that helps to understand the issue. Help us help you. Messages such as "doesn't work" or "i need help" will most likely be ignored.

There are also many other threads here with similar issues that have just been left hanging—no real answers or follow-up. We’re genuinely interested in finding a solution and would gladly welcome any help you can offer.

Our goal is to set up a custom proxy setup, but there’s practically zero information available anywhere. Threads with similar questions are often left unanswered or with no useful guidance, which makes it incredibly hard to move forward.

Without logs we can't help and even then if its related to your proxy we still can't help.

You'll need to grab error logs for Wings and share the link with us. The following command will help you collect the required information for debugging: sudo wings diagnostics

#

You'll need to grab the error logs from the Panel. The following command uploads the last 150 lines of this day's log to our pastebin and provides a link you can share.
tail -n 150 /var/www/pterodactyl/storage/logs/laravel-$(date +%F).log | nc pteropaste.com 99

There doesn't need to be Pterodactyl documentation for Wireguard. Wireguard already has good documenation avaliable online, and there isn't really much Pterodactyl specific.
At the end of the day it's your responsibility to get traffic flowing correctly across your network and Pterodactyl doesn't care how it gets there.
