Hey, i am having a little trouble with the performance of the servers i create on pterodactyl (minecraft paper latest version).

The problem is that the server starts soo slow and is slow in general aswell, i tested it on 2 different servers and one uses a lot of cpu load when starting etc to make it load faster but the other one doesn't do that making it start so slow.

These are the specs i tested on:

(Dedicated) PowerEdge R630 -> This is the one that is slow

  • 2x Intel Xeon E5-2620v3 (turbo is enabled)
  • 64GB DDR4 1866MHz

(Virtual Machine) PowerEdge R710 -> This is the one that starts 10x as fast

  • 2x Intel Xeon X5670 (turbo is enabled)
  • 16GB DDR3 1333MHz

(these screens where taking on the 2 servers at their startup)

Never give java unlimeted ram or cpu.

~~E5 is a 2.4GHz (3.2Ghz Turbo) processor.
X5 is a 2.6GHz (3.3 GHz Turbo) processor.

Both being 6 cores and 12 threads. Both having virtualisation features.~~

Just noticed one is a VM.. Though it is interesting that your dedicated machine is having the issues.
Usually its the other way around because people forget to enable full virtualisation on the vms.

It looks like your dedicated server is not allowing so many resources to be pulled at once. Please try setting a limit of 200% to ur server and check if the cpu goes above 100%. If not, please check in logs of wings and docker if anything is hard limitting it or if there are any errors. Also check the configuration of the server, make sure to have OOM correctly configured, no cpu pinning and etc.

Also another weird thing is that when i check the active speeds of the cores almost all of them are at 1.2ghz and only 2-3 are at 3.2ghz

So these are the logs of the wings

but i tested 2 different servers, both on paper

I have no experience with paper,so you need to fine out if paper is single thread or not

#

If so then that is the reason

its solved i am just extremely stupid

#

i didnt know you could leave cpu pinning empty

Perfect. ^^

Cpu Pinning is weird, hence why I told you to check it/leave it empty... Glad I could've helped 😄

minecraft is singlethreaded so your xeon would be absolute dogshit for newer versions of minecraft
