User can connect to proxy but isn’t passed onto the hub/lobby server

Title says it all. I’ve tried velocity, waterfall and bungee for my proxies. The user will ping the proxy but will time out when trying to connect to the main server. I have configured the proxy to point at my ip and port 25565. The hub server is 127.0.0.1:25567 but in the config I set it to 172.18.0.1:25567 like the guide states and I also allowed the ufw rule for 25565 on local host and the ufw allow in ptero rule for the server ip

Online mode is disabled and bungee cord is set to true in spigot yml

I’m really scratching my head here. I know I’m likely missing something obvious. I’ve done this before in the past but it’s been a while and can’t quite figure out what’s wrong here. Any help would be greatly appreciated

u need to make ur hub server on ur public ip, then, ur other server to 172.18.0.1, but open server port on firewall using command sudo ufw allow 25567/tcp

This is an indication that you haven't done the bungeecord setup on your proxy correctly

No, all you need is to have the proxy on your public IP, and every backend servers allocation that is under the proxy set to 127.0.0.1. In the proxy, you need to specify the IPs as 172.18.0.1 for the backend servers.
