#Support With Setup

Please explain the issue you're experiencing in as much detail as possible. Preferably with error messages in a text format or paste link to logs. Nobody can assist you without information that helps to understand the issue. Help us help you. Messages such as "doesn't work" or "i need help" will most likely be ignored.
The documentation you are looking for can be found at https://pterodactyl.io/.
@raw lintel All the information you need should be in the docs linked in the message above this. If you get stuck on a specific step and you've tried troubleshooting on your own, post error messages and what you've already tried in the appropriate help channel. Most of the time the bot will have an automated response, and if not, if you've provided enough details we'll help you.
I just dont know what im susposed to be doing to at least get the website up lol
Never really made websites
The webserver configuration steps in the documentation go over loading the panel in a webserver. I recommend nginx
Make sure you generate certificates before you configure the webserver if you're using encryption.
what files do i need to have it its talking about removing stuff lol
i dont got any of these files downloaded
Everything is documented in the guide as Loki stated, and whilst it may seem fairly complicated, if you generally take your time to read through and not skip, you'll be okay 😄
Thanks man if i got any other questions i will ask!
Of course, always happy to answer questions related to this 😄
Where do i download the files for the Web server config its doesnt state
It's all in the documentation, if you can't find something you can usually find it by going back to the start and making sure you didn't miss a step.
Alr I will look when I get home
Where is this config or thing susposed to go @visual onyx
Yes, that tells you where to put the config
but i got no files with that directory
You make it
do nano /etc/nginx/sites-available/pterodactyl.conf and if you use centos just do the other path lol
How do you LOL
Im the most brain dead person you gotta help
https://chat.openai.com is probably your best bet for what you want. I'm not walking someone through the entire installation xD
Man
Just use #panel-in-docker at this point, it has virtually no setup. You just fill in the information. Then all you have to figure out is basic docker usage.
I am quite curious to why you have a host if you don't know how to execute linux commands?
First time using Linux
Most hosting infrastructure are built on top of a Linux Distro though, so you generally should get a grasp of the basics there first
also i know nothing about directory maaking
Yes, that is why I believe before proceeding, you should get a hold of the basic commands such as mkdir, nano, etc
This isn't the place to learn Linux, this is complex. There are multiple components and you have to understand how they all interact.
Is there a video at least?
Search "DigitalOcean Ubuntu (What you're trying to do)" and there is usually a guide. DigitalOcean has good guides.
You'll give yourself trouble by proceeding further down the line whilst not understand anything 😄
Yeah im used to just doing something and understanding it as i go
Won't work in this particular case unless you go with #panel-in-docker
Drawling a blank here where does the command go....
Of course, I get that. A lot of people learn by doing instead, though for the panel and it's components, I think it's going to be rather advanced and troublesome.
Yeah by that method of just going and trying to figure it out it is definitely a struggle
You use the docker-compose.yml file in #panel-in-docker pins. Fill out all the information, cd (directory with your docker-compose.yml), and docker compose up -d.
Once you verify the panel is up, use the Discord Search Feature in #panel-in-docker to see how people add the first user using docker exec.
You can host it on your home network and use a virtual machine for Linux or something.
Where is the start file in the Panel Download file
@carmine latch@visual onyx
@idle sinew
You need to be willing to help yourself
Not many people here will walk you though every little detail you need to install the panel.
Everything is documented. If you don't know how to use Linux, this isn't the software for you. Maybe look at wisp, which is a modified version of ptero, but paid and the panel is hosted for you.
