@rustic crescent Check that the port is open from the outside with https://dnschecker.org/port-scanner.php
#Cant connect to the server I made
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
In addition to allocating the port in your panel you need to open each port in your firewall. Sometimes opening a port in a firewall doesn't work if using UFW, so verifying with a site like that rules out the firewall as a cause.
Please explain the issue you're experiencing in as much detail as possible. Preferably with error messages in a text format or paste link to logs. Nobody can assist you without information that helps to understand the issue. Help us help you. Messages such as "doesn't work" or "i need help" will most likely be ignored.
it says timed out
How did you open that port in your firewall? What was the command you used?
I dont know, how would you open the port in linux
I am new to linux so I dont really know what im doing
What operating system are you using?
ubuntu
You'll be using UFW by default.
This is a good guide for initial setup:

And this is a more in-depth guide:

Alright I will try
can I just turn firewall off?
wait nevermind, I enabled firewall and allowed the port 25565 which is what im using for the server and it still does not work
Still says timed out?
yeah
well, docker alraedy handles the firewall by default so i dont think thats the issue. what ip did you use for your allocation? if you used smth like 127.0.0.1 then it wont work as that would mean that the server can only be accessed via 172.18.0.1 (and that is IF you set the rules for it)
okay that looks like the internal ip in ur net. u using that ip to connect?
yeah
yo I went to the troubleshooting guide on the website and I did the step where it said to look at the console in your web browser
and there are problems, do you guys know what to do?
Wait are you trying to use the panel internally or make a server others can also connect to?
I am trying to make a server so that me and all my friends can join
So is that your public ip?
yeah
Is the machine self installed on your home network?
yes
Did you allow ports through your router
yes
I opened port 8080, 2022, 80, and 25565
I think i did the udp and tcp right
oh
so I got it working??
I connected using my public ip, not the ip that the panel has
👍
I was gonna ask if you were dou g that but nice
