That is, you do not mark the blocks that need to be destroyed, but mark them the place where to put the bomb, destroying blocks.

That sounds like a really fun active daytime abulity or maybe a passive one where you set up a bunch of spots to drop bombs and over time it slowly deploys a bomb at each one.

Both could work, I just feel like if you do it that way then the sacrifice could easily bcome either too over powered or just not worth it, depends how you balance it I guess.

would be really slow in the beginning though, waiting the intial bomb to go off before able to get into the main center

Are you guys planning to have platforms take the place of the "character" concept? I was previously thinking it'd be cool to have characters that make the blueprint pool change to focus on specific builds, but I'll have to give it some thought if it's moreso platform changes.

I think a mix of both could be good and add a nice level of customisablity, like charachters could effect terrain generation and rng aspects while platform can affect basic things.

Instead, why not give us different types of platform while we build them? Something that either reduce cost or make boosts/new unlocks for specific types of buildings:

  • Weapons Platform: Watchtowers and Night abilities.
  • Construction Platform: Buildings and Material Factories.
  • Research Platforms: Boost buildings and Day abilities.

That way would make you prioritize specific buildings on different deployments, those could also be set during your Platform preset so they aren't random, if the player wants.
Also give a nice idea for weekly game modes.

"Company issued a discount on armaments, all platforms during this deployment are Weapons Platform with discount on Watchtowers and Night abilities, other towers costs 2 more Iron, 1 more swarmlit (when applicable)."

Those should be unlocks, as they would give you more depth (pun not intended), but I still didn't think about a downside for those yet...
Maybe amp the cost for others by 2 Iron, 1 Swarm, non multiplicative (if the platform costs 10/2, make it cost 12/3 instead of multiplying that).

Back to the bomber topic, having a Bomber that destroy blocks in a row with a slower time to have it explode could be interesting. Would be effective against fire blocks and could make it useful for Swarmlit farming (if the player doesn't have guards and use bottom turrets to clean up like I do).

But what would be the downside? Friendly fire? Bomb could be destroyed by enemies? If the bomb was next to a fire block, would it blow up instantly and kill the Bomber plus any friendly around it?

I also think the system of 3 types of platforms would fit with the general theme of the game, since we got 3 types of personnel.

My thoughts is to definately NOT replace the miners but have this be in addition to,.

Manually need to target bomb spot, and have it function as a semi fast cooldown.
Not sure if you want to have it have a setup time or not. (probably not if building is on cooldown)

This would help with the issues that we have with the fire blocks.

(What I mean is, if you have your people mine a lava block and they have access to one side that will spew fire and kill them and one side that won't, about half your workers decide that they are too cold in these underground tunnels and pick the area that will let them feel warm and toasty - as well as kill them.)

My issue would be speed of carriers, trigger time, possibility of friendly fire (including setting off other bombs...) and does it trigger other bombs faster...

Also how would that affect web blocks and other hazards Would bombs be defused by webbing? Also pathing in general....do bombs block unit movement (both ally and/or enemy?)

I mean, my workers will probably mix and match in their speedrun to see who goes splat first.
