C hai answer?
Yessir
So yeah see
Sulphur vala jo group hai
It's a better leaving group for the initial reaction
'cause sulphur pe negative jyada stable hota hai
I actually read some stack exchange 'cause I didn't have a good feeling about this
Doubt ho raha tha
So actual reason
It's ki dekho
Oxygen vaale group me bhi C=O vaale carbon ke saath partial pi bond character aa raha hai
Sulphur vaale me bhi aa raha hai
Which is decreasing the electrophilicity of that carbon
C=O vaala
But
Despite oxygen being more electronegative
(agar jyada electronegative hai to +M effect should be less right?)
Oxygen shows better +M here
Why now?
O-C pi bond would be 2p-2p pi bond
S-C pi bond would be 2p-3p pi bond
Better overlap (less energy mismatch; symmetry)
So Oxygen vaale carbon ki electrophilicity reduces more as compared to sulphur vala carbon
That's why OH- attacks Sulphur vala group first
Then that negative kicks out the oxygen moeity
Thoda confusing ha smjhne mei time lagra
