Hello all!

I think some co-op PvE would be fun in Balatro, and I think I have a way it could work. It’s a lot like the multiplayer mod except for a couple key differences.

Rules:
Players play different seeds
Players must defeat “The Boss” by ante 8 or they lose.
Players share money.

Each Boss Blind is replaced by “The Boss”

The Boss
Blind: When hands run out, progress past this blind. The total amount scored by both players during this blind will be deducted from “The Boss” score requirement the next time it appears.
Base: 1,000,000
(This amount can be adjusted to infinity, for instance, for added difficulty)

The rest of the game plays normally. This idea could also introduce co-op jokers. Including this one I just came up with:

Doppelgänger Joker:
Uncommon
If your ally has this joker, x4 mult
(different seeds, so the likelihood of both having it is lower)

Or
Ghostly Joker:
Common
1 in 4 chance for your ally’s last played hand to count towards your current blind too.

I read through some of that thread, lots of good ideas there.

Thanks! I got all the inspiration from the structure of the multiplayer mod, just instead of a competition blind it’s a cooperative blind.
Feels like it could work!

I kinda like the idea of The Boss, definitely interesting, but I feel it kinda makes the first five antes feel a little bit redundant? I'm not sure how it'd be reworked to fix that, though...

I guess what it could be, that'd be pretty interesting, is have different stages of The Boss?

like, the first one is 1,000 or something; once you beat that, the next one is like 5,000, then 20k, then 100k, then 250k, then 1m, etc etc

maybe every round it's alive it gives a new debuff or something? incentivises killing it faster

I agree the first 5 antes would feel like a slog, I think having those target scores along the way like you said would be rly fun, like if you beat it at like 5,000 in ante 2 you could get a money bonus, but if you don’t beat it you could lose a life or something.
Or, if you don’t beat it, it adds a boss blind effect to the small and big blinds. Something to keep the difficulty up
