either the debt collector was a pre-existing anomoly or it was created alongside the book that appeared when renee awakened. Because she was the only puppet who was really alive and that came with a price. Everyone's name written in the book was supposed to have their debt "life" collected. All the other puppets and dolores were put to rest but it couldnt kill renee because she had the eternal gift. So it just kept chasing her down instead. Thats why every night it would attack her but it couldnt actually kill her until she lost the gift

Some useful info I found: anomalies and espers all have absolute values. Anomalies with negative numbers and the further from zero, the more dangerous. Espers I believe the further from zero, the stronger they are? And the MC is the only esper with a value of zero; no one else has an esper value of zero. That’s why they’re undetectable. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong or got some info misinterpreted

Well.. Yes and yes.
It's true that the people known as Espers pays a price for their power, and can be gained either on birth or later on in life. The Price can be either mental, physical or abstract (karma eks.), and interrestingly enough may NOT follow the rule of "equivalent exchange".

The thing that's a bit weird is how the Esper value is given to each person.
When given a number to just about anything in the world, the world of NTE uses the Wertheimer Index, to calculate what number to give the 'thing'.
The number given is calculated based upon how much it "deviate from reality", but since anormalities has become such a fundamental part of the everyday persons life, even 'normal' people fluctuates between being given a -1 to a 1.
Zero / our MC is a bit weird, since they have Esper abilities, or at least are very well at identifying traces of anormalities, but still have a value of 0 on the Wertheimer Index. No clue there. I guess we'll find out more later on in the story.

I believe you're also correct in that people with awakened Esper abilities / Espers are given a positive number, and even though I cant find anywhere it says that Espers can have a value of more than 1. Then I can presume that they can, since that anormalities can have an -infinity number on the scale, which is an extinction-level threat.
We dont know if Espers with negative intentions have a negative value too. Like the bad guys we meet from the Scarlet Letter group.
We can assume that they do, since all the negative number descriptions have a correlation of being a threat to humanity in some way.
But that's still up for speculation imo

I was just thinking and I realized with Hotori time loop thing and coming back here, it's not that confusing

with a game that has espers/ abilities that can really just be anything and Hotori having a time ability's that seems to always be actives by the pocket watch

1st timeline is having it active normally out and about, unsure how but it wasnt when she was young, most likely when she was collecting things at Eibon and attempting to prevent what had happened with her family she when back in time. Adler in this 1st timeline most likely wasnt with her when she was young and found him later in life as well.

timeline 2 starts; she gets the pocket watch early but bad things still happened, but everything happens like it does in the short short trailer

and like Shadi said, timeline 3 is just the repeat of Hotori 2 doing what Hotori 1 did and went back in time to continue the cycle.

But because that pocket watch is a constant, it's why it's not too confusing, and if isnt not the same timeline it also draws it together. And knowing that Espers, if not born with, you need something to trigger it. The trigger is pocket watch. It's not an object anomaly most likely.

Hotori being cosmos (keeping order) and not Psyche (needing an medium in the real world that isnt oneself to basically manifest your ability) medium would be the watch if so. All meaning she doesn't need the watch anymore, it was just a trigger at that.

Yeah most of the sidequests in my personal opinion are better than the main quests, outside select parts. Mainly just Chapter 4 was sooooo long. Insanely long to sit through, plus the | | | | | thing that doesn't let you move to the next text until the characters are done being animated. Like Chapter 4 was still fine but mostly right at the very end.

That's true for some sidequests as well like Frizzle and Puffy but the Patty sidequest is probably the best content in the game so far, minus the back to back to back to back combat encounter to pad time.
