When driving around, I noticed a lot of familiar elements and references. There’s a train station in shallow water that is a Spirited Away reference, the railway crossing in Hankaku with the cherry blossoms is probably a 5 Centimeters per Second reference. The road going up to the big suspension bridge feels a lot like the route to the Rainbow Bridge in Tokyo. Parts of Hankaku also feel like some hip neighborhoods in Tokyo or perhaps Shanghai.

You've never developed a game and it shows. It's a game first and foremost. Not a visual novel. You do not get to have your cake and eat it too. In order for gameplay to be functional sometimes it takes priority. This is why visual novels don't have much gameplay, if any, because keeping all lore perfectly immersive makes that impossible.

Judging from what I've seen, the game design and plot structure hinges on a modernized reimagining of onmyo and shinto.

• You've got objects that have distortions to them, usually based on missed opportunities or things that are seen as "wrong" with them - a version of shinto's yokai and the kegare that create them, essentially.
• On top of that, you have some turning into full-on collapses in reality at higher tiers, which leans into the onmyo side.
  Each of them seem to be eased by modernized versions of misogi.

Since to me it seems like where sociology, technology and theology all intersect, this game is right in my strike zone.

It's always a bit slow at the start. WuWa is the only big gacha i've seen nail that 1.0 first story with minimal fluff and big payoff right at launch. It's hard to do. I'd say NTE did average so they're fine.

So I probably mentioned way earlier that I had a theory that I've formulated from the events of Chapter 4. I also now have a probable theory on the origins of Esper Zero/MC.

The 1st theory (dubbed The Scarlet Letter theory) seems more plausible while the Code Zero theory will sound like a major stretch but hear me out and it might make somewhat sense all things considered.
