??? if that’s the case then why days gone has a lot of otimizations that essentially makes it work like a whole different engine? that runs on ue4… for example they turned ambient occlusion data and convert it to shadowmaps, that’s just one example, there’s also unreal engine forks that runs much better than the base one, like the ones used in arc raiders, which is nvidia’s build of unreal

you can backport or add new features on top of an engine while making it perform better

this is why people should be developing their own toolsets instead of relying on stuff like UE. especially when you have the income that these gacha companies have it is not unreasonable. im coping with hope that they are developing a custom engine for wuwa. games based on UE are extremely easy to move onto a custom toolset that does the same thing. it just costs money and time and a dedicated team.

As you mentioned it doesnt make sense to just persist on a busted thing that gets more unstable every major update. It cant go on forever and Epic refuses to help anyone who does what kuro did.

the studios arent, the publisher is forcing it on them cause its cheaper than developing one in house. its a short term profit leader and cost cutting measure nothing more. The benefits of a custom engine far outweigh anything you can get with UE other than cost cutting and short cuts through the iterative R&D process.

at current knowledge no. the game had development hell for ages, and minimum 3 different teams come and go. Ananta is only releasing to try to recoup SOME of its insanely bloated development cost. the closed test was loaded with place holder store bought assets and AI gen stuff. i have very low expectations for ananta outside of it might have a good story and cool chars, but the gameplay loop was in hell for years. copy & pasted mechanics from popular single player games is not a gameplay loop.

Who knows? maybe it will actually be amazing but based on what we currently know, the game is in serious trouble. Maybe a GTA6xAnanta collab is in the works
