weapon essence is for the weapon , not for character.
Check your weapon 1st, you want gold essence on rank5 and 6 weapon.
leave rank 4 and below alone as placeholder or as weapon exp feed.

each weapon have 3 attributes, example : agility / physical / infusion.
open daily tab, go to index tab -> find alluvium.
at that page click globe icon beside go / enter button.
after clicking globe icon, you will be presented with possible attribute drop which good for listed weapon.
find your weapon in the list of each globe.

once you find your weapon at the list, go to said alluvium.
prepare engraving material 1st, 1 per run, said material is sold at regional stock shop, so go buy one.
at said alluvium, interact with the crack, set the essence you want 1st.
you can choose 3 main attribute and 1 from many secondary attribute.
let's say you want agility / physical / infusion.
agility is main attribute, so pick it, but you also forced to choose 2 other main attribute, so pick 3 of them.
physical and infusion are secondary, you need to pick 1 and hope later on rng with you.

do the alluvium, better with tower setup for faster / easier clear.
once done, grab the reward and make sure you choose to use engraving tickets.
check the reward, if you can get agility / physical / infusion combo, nice, if not .... welp : / try again.
this is where the rng hit hard the most.... so far.

Probability is total btw. If you toss a coin 10 times and get 8 head you may feel you're lucky. But if you continue to toss that coin upto 100000 times at that point the number of heads and tails will almost become same around 50% each.
