heck if u look on used market DDR4 registered ECC ram is cheap af but they won't work with or on majority of Boards (all consumer/mainstream boards) and cpus that use DDR4
you would basically need an old retired server board that can take it to put them to use
which u can also find for cheap, depending on how far u are willing to go and look for them and some jank to set up, they are extremely good in terms of price to perf compared to a lot of consumer stuff even before the ram shortage if u know what ur looking for

but the hardware market crashing might benefit tof a lot
to a lesser extent nte as its already weirdly highly optimized for what it is
but i can kinda see studios going for safe reliable remasters and not much being announced next year
i dont see us getting a ps6 in the current market, and at the insane rate this is going i wouldnt be surprised if the steam machine was canceled (or if they do the switch thing of just having 10% of stock until things hopefully improve meaning barely anyone can get it)
if someone's ram fails, i can see them just dropping to 1/2 sticks
like at the rate this is going, this is absolutely not a normal crash and ai bubble will likely be propped up too much until it bursts in two years, and even then prices will take ages to stabilize
