Sometimes when I make a character try to act excited or sarcastic like this () for some reason it would sometimes say it without the ()

Sometimes when I make a character try to act excited or sarcastic *like this ()*...
Does the character speak the word "excited" or "sarcastic" instead of doing the command (i.e., making the character feel excited or sarcastic)?
