Bitwig Plugin Window Management Extension

Hi,

This tool gives access to open/close all the plugin windows on a channel. As well as closing/opening plugin windows for all channels. The controls are accessible in the Studio I/O panel.

You can configure the amount of devices./layers the extension monitors in the settings. This uses more memory/time to process. (Requires reboot of extension)

wild. Can windows be MOVED under extension control? I use a mac and sidecar and use an ipad as a second monitor and an apple pencil as an input device, which would be cool for remote controlling synths if I could force the windows to open on a specified monitor or at some specified co-ordinates that somehow got the window onto that monitor

that would be the ultimate... i know there is a fellow somewhere on here making something called lockpick... which could do some window manipulation. I think it used some external thing to manage the windows might have been osx only... but it would be cool to integrate something like that.

i just wouldn't know how to begin with that

I feel it should be sent in as a request to bitwig to add this to their apis. Open and close plugin windows and move them about.

Does this open/close Bitwig devices?

Open/close is there but nothing about getting the window position that would be madness!

Nope… I’m not sure how that would work since they are don’t have popup windows

might be possible using some sort of autohotkey script and osc

yeah i wonder if there is something like autohotkey that supports window movement for mac and osc. Still dorking around with AHK here i'm not sure how much progress i'll really make here

but would be happy to setup OSC and some buttons or other things to trigger external functions

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/winuser/nf-winuser-movewindow this is the method you need to reach in order to force your windows one a specific screen (other OS will need their own logic), you can use it in Java through JNA 🙂

EnumWindow functions will fetch them for you.
I didn’t experiment with the Java wrapper, but it’s been there for a while… it should work reliably.

Not sure this will actually work with those detached bitwig eq windows, but for vst windows it should be just fine.
