Question: About how good is the quality on the B-01, would you say? Like, if you were to compare the models to the Galactic Armory files, would they be roughtly the same or completely different? (asking this because I was planning on buying the Galactic Armory files tomorrow)
They definitely aren't as good as galactic armory, I haven't tried printing the armour yet but I have made a couple helmets that look pretty darn good after a bit of work
This is the light gunner helmet I made
I just mean the general 3D models, because the prints could be buffed out pretty easily
looks good
I think the galactic armory stuff is objectively better, my models are more meant to fill the 'good enough' category
Because mine are based on rips from the game whereas I believe GA makes theirs from scratch using the game models as a reference
Ah, gotcha
They look a little gummy and lack of some sharp edges but good work for working with rips
I'm probably just gonna get the GA files cause I already saved the money for them, but I'll definitley point some friends towards you if they want to do a HD2 cosplay of their own
The hard part is increasing the poly count without turning it into a blob
I have a new respect for how shader engines make these models look so seamless
Also trying to give the parts volume is kinda tricky going from 2d mesh to 3d object
Tbh I got so mad seeing people online selling blatantly ripped files for 20 bucks, I taught myself how to use blender just so I could make them for free to spite those people
looks sooo cool. definitely gonna save up money for galactic armoury's ones, but tysm for creating these, ill use them as practice while im saving up :)
This is beautiful! Thank you so much!
i might try to sharpen some of the corners if they need them, would be good for me to learn how
So many game rips are stolen and sold it is depressing
Update, just uploaded a bunch of weapon models including the liberator, defender and breaker shotgun
having them fully textured is a bit misleading ngl cause it shows detail thats not there
doing god's work himself
Just got the GA files and it's almost 800Mb of stuff 💀
Thought it'd be like, 200mb or smth
His stuff is high poly very nice
Although my computer says otherwise during slicing
Are they obj files?
When you import an obj into a sliver it looks smooth cuz of shaders or normals or smth but when you slice it the polygons reveal themselves
They're STL's (so they're actually smooth)
Nah they are actually smooth, and .stl I have tons of experience with his files
Halfway thru a GA build right now, the topo is clean. Well worth
@royal dock i dont know how much experience u have with blender (i have basically none lol) but i asked on reddit if i could make ur files sharper and less blown up if u know what i mean, and this guy was pretty helpful. dont know if youve already tried this, but if u havent it might be worth trying
ill prob try it too
Yeah I'm not good enough at blender to know what this guy is talking abt
It makes about 50% sense to me
Gonna need help from someone who knows what they are doing
ive figured out how to do the "support loops" thing, now time to see how to "reopologize" it lol
Pretty much saying your topology needs to be in quads and not tri's. If you go into edit mode and have face select on, select all the faces and right click and select Tris to Quads and that will clean up a lot. There is also another way to take the normal or displacement map (I don't remember off the top of my head) that the game file comes with in the shader and use that as a texture displacement and get the details back on the helmet as mesh.
i gave up btw, dont have time and ur stuff is rlly good anyways :)
niiiiice good topology = good stuff
Can we have the thingiverse link?
Thanks!
Gotchu
I also have a some 3D printable models fixed & uploaded to makerworld, but I'm waiting to finish a few more before making a thread here
The liberator file is corrupted
Yes this is tinkercad
I had this problem in my slicer too
I currently don’t have my slicer at hand, so tinkercad will work
Oh wait
I pinged the wrong person didn’t i
