Game-breaking bug after a few minutes – cannot exit the car (only restarting the game fixes it)

Hello,

I’m experiencing a game-breaking bug that makes the game completely unplayable.

After a few minutes of gameplay, a bug is triggered that prevents me from exiting the car. The exit action no longer works at all, no matter what I do, leaving me completely stuck and unable to continue playing.

The only way to exit the car again is to fully restart the application. Once the game is restarted, the issue temporarily disappears, but it happens again after a few minutes, making normal gameplay impossible.

What I have already tried:

Backed up my save files locally

Disabled Steam Cloud for the game

Completely deleted all local save files (Steam/userdata/...)

Manually cleared Steam Cloud saves

Restarted Steam and started a fresh new game

Verified game files

Reinstalled the game

Despite starting with a clean save and empty Steam Cloud, the issue still occurs consistently after a few minutes of gameplay.

Result:

This bug blocks progression and makes the game unplayable, as restarting the application repeatedly is the only workaround.

If anyone has encountered this issue or knows a workaround, I would really appreciate the help.
Otherwise, I hope the developers can investigate this issue, as it happens even on a clean setup.

hey there, there is also user configuration data for things like binds on keys that is in your appdata folder. I would recommend removing that as well to test.

When you say you can no longer exit, do you mean just trying to press the "leave vehicle" button, or do you mean looking out of the car's door with the door open and left clicking to exit?

I’ve already deleted the DriveBeyondHorizons folder in AppData\Local, but the issue still happens.

To clarify: neither method works once the bug occurs — the “leave vehicle” button does nothing, and exiting via the open door with left click doesn’t work either.
The only workaround is restarting the application, which fixes it temporarily before it happens again.

The bug occurs with both the Dada and the Mustang, and it happens on all of my save files, including fresh saves after clearing Steam Cloud and local data.

Are you using any special non QWERTY keyboard or some special controllers? Any custom key binds, any non standard software, or 3rd party antivirus?
This is such an unusual and never seen bug that any information you could think of would be if help to reproduce it.

I'm using a French keyboard (MX Keys) and I've configured the game to use ZQSD.

I'm trying to record the game to show the bug, but with Steam’s recording and when running the game in windowed mode, the bug does not appear as quickly as usual.

When you go to look for your historical saves in the game, does it all show with this information?

Here is a video of the bug; it appeared after a slightly longer time than usual.

My save history only looks like your illustration for the saves I’ve restored. Otherwise, the dates and mileage numbers are consistent and correct.

Make sure it's right next to the Eject button, so in case of emergency when you try to buckle up you accidentally eject.
