Initially, there was just the base model and shiny (both of which were a unique concept drawn by the concept artist). The serialised model was going to be a simple recolor, but frankly that seemed far too simple and we had extra time, so the modeller found some fanart online that looked good, and based the serialised off of it.

The plan wasn't to make the shiny far worse than the serialised or whatever, though obviously that's how it ended up

personally I think it was a good decision to make the serialised model better

it serves well to encourage players to grind for it

All of the recently affected individuals have been re-banned for now, I will look into the entire situation tomorrow.
In order to prevent any serious loss (such as a user that was unbanned purchasing a R$ product), the bans had to be re-instituted as said product would disappear if I were to do an entire version rollback, which might happen in this case for some users.
I'll let you guys know once I am done going through with it, though it may take a bit as I am busy with the upcoming update.
