Cuz i believe a lot of enjoyment from the game comes from figuring out how to use different units and expanding your roster of units with different elements. the issue is that im not sure how we can find a way around the system that is already in place where monarch is heavily incentivized to improve your unit strength and lacks any depth at all other than just clicking a button and praying to the gods. I think its a lost cause to try and fix but i think that maybe we could try and focus more on more player-centered improvements that could be implemented as incentives for a main gamemode possibly temporary spells that could obtained from the gamemode and be used on any stage. and then adding ways to improve the strength of these spells by pushing yourself further in the gamemode.

I think the crazy part is that both 9.0 and 9.5 added nothing special and only reused the same banner formula from 3.0, and yet they took the longest time out of all updates in recent memory

They both have the least innovation and the highest update delay, they're using all their effort on the wrong places
