1. New units make no sense if old ones are still superior 
Currently, many of the units released in updates don't bring anything new or better than previous ones, which makes their presence in the meta feel unnecessary. A clear example of this is VSJW and Koguro, two older units that still dominate despite newer releases.
The issue is even worse with Vanguard-type units, where most of them rely entirely on the Monarch trait to be viable. This heavily limits team diversity and makes many units feel obsolete just because they can’t function without Monarch.
A good example of balanced design was Gogeta—a strong unit, but not meta-breaking. On the other hand, VSJW stands out even without Monarch, while Koguro depends completely on it, showing an inconsistency in how traits are implemented for new Vanguards.
2. The game's economy makes Monarch the only viable trait 
The current economy system doesn't allow proper use of alternative traits. Most units have 3 placements, which should theoretically make traits like Ethereal stronger, but in practice, you don’t get enough money in any mode (except Infinite) to max out more than one unit.
This makes Monarch the only truly viable trait, as it performs well even when used on a single strong unit, while other traits require conditions that the game doesn't support. Some units like Arin (Rumbling) or Slime (King) can bypass this limitation, but only because they require less investment to reach their full potential.
Suggested solutions:
Add a new farming unit to increase gold generation, allowing players to max at least 2–3 units in normal modes. (This should be a must).
Increase Monarch’s cost based on the unit’s placement count.
3. Traits are underwhelming or irrelevant
Except for Monarch, most traits aren’t useful or exciting—either due to their low impact or because the economy doesn't allow players to benefit from them. Even the few traits that are somewhat useful are extremely situational, which discourages their use (especially due to the lack of money to level up multiple units).
Concept examples of more interesting traits:
Astral: +10% Damage, +10% Range, and +20% True Damage buff.
Constellation: +1 additional placement.
Plasma: –10% spa, +20% DoT damage.
Atomic: Enemies take +10% extra damage.
These traits offer interesting mechanics and strategic possibilities, but none of them would work under the current economy, so that system would need a rework as well.
4. The "Unknown" element is completely broken 
The "Unknown" element provides total immunity, which is an extremely abusable mechanic. Units like VSJW and Koguro stay meta simply because of this: they can't be debuffed, which breaks the balance of the game.
Other elements already attempt to cover defensive mechanics (like Spark, Nature, or Water), but they do it in a more limited and balanced way. That’s why "Unknown" urgently needs a redesign.
Suggested fix: Replace full immunity with a balanced mechanic like built-in True Damage, similar to Sokora. This would keep the element’s identity while being fairer.
Elements that need rework (current effect → proposed effect):
Fire
: "+1s to DoTs".
Holy
: "Debuffs last only 5s".
Passion
: "+10% Damage on enemies with more than 40% HP".
Blast
: "Extra hit for 7.5% damage" .
Unbound
: "+10% Critical rate".
5. Lack of hard, long-lasting, and cooperative content🫂
The game lacks content that can’t be finished in a single day, which drastically reduces the longevity of each update. Ideally, there should be stages requiring multiple players, with complex mechanics and true cooperation, such as:
Rifts from update 4.0, which required coordination.
EX Stages, offering high-quality optional content.
Solo Leveling dungeons, which (like Bleach's rift) were extremely successful because of their difficulty and team-based design. At the time they were introduced, they were hard to beat and fun to complete—and the rewards were worth it.
Another strong point has been attaching missions to units, like VSJW or Eizan, where unlocking their full potential required completing certain steps or challenges. Units like Byeken, Giant Queen, or Roku 3 were also great examples of how to add value to units beyond just pulling or evolving them.
6. Basic TD mechanics could improve the gameplay ⚙️
While Anime Vanguards wants to maintain its own identity, there are core tower defense mechanics that could greatly enhance the strategic variety of the game:
Physical vs. Magical damage.
Elemental strengths/weaknesses (e.g. Fire > Nature, Water > Fire).
Flying vs. Ground enemies, requiring specialized counters.
Adding these would force players to use more than just 2–3 units to beat every stage, encouraging variety and strategy when building teams.
A great example is ASTDX, which, despite having worse gameplay, keeps its community engaged due to:
Character missions and tons of content.
Challenging stages without relying on Monarch.
Meaningful unit evolutions where everything has a purpose.
That’s why there’s always something to do, and players remain active and invested.

Bro Koguro is not a older unit, she is pretty new, she is not unknown without special units, people always forget cid is a unknown unit not only vsjw, yes most traits a for real not useable, buff them or give us more ways to get rerolls so we get the monarch trait better

- ur just asking for clear powercreep which would render units useless overtime faster
- this new farm would also benefit ppl who have monarch which would just make the game super easy (a soultion to not being able to max more units that dont have monarch would be playing a mode like dungeons which is able to help u generate more income than normal for like 30 waves)

The only team I would see need for a new farm unit is for the aot team being viable in other modes than infinite because you don’t level up a Eren, zeke and Ymir in any mode

I don’t get why they refuse to give us a good farm unit like give us a mytic one and make it so you can’t use the other two with it
