The cages? It's just any repulse unit. Which means you can just use one of the legendaries instead if you wanna do solo. Repulsing the cage just buys you extra time, it spawns in at 75% hp and then resets and does it again at 50% hp. Then he goes to 2nd phase at 25% hp. The counter is just having enough dps to get through with the time you buy
So you just take some time to set up farms and establish yourself before starting to chip through his health
as for thematics, fuck if I know 
I suppose it would get way tougher to create such mechanics if they had to make them canon as well
I mean something like mahito clone was fairly easy to merge with thematics and made for a decent mechanic

imo it would be kinda good to give hints on how to do more complex raid mechanics around the map in the future, if raids are going to get more complex, then hieroglyphic or drawn style hints in the map would be sick

originally the towers didn't have the repulse symbol and some of us had to really push adding that to give players at least some indication

destiny mechanics theres at least indicators and status messages that actually give useful hints while still putting it on the players to figure out
