Important points from the doc:

  • Main purpose is to add more depth to units and team building, while also attempting to balance the aoe balancing issue
  • Deletion of Cosmic and Unbound element. Replaced with Terra and Melee element(units from removed elements will be put into other elements)
  • split to Elemental and Physical damaging/support units
  • 20 unique reactions between elements
  • Elemental resonance
  • Unit passive reworks
  • New "Trail Mode" concept

explained much more in depth in the google doc, I am open to feedback and criticism

i really like this, i think the magic/phys damage types from aa are slept on and so i really like you reincorporating it via melee/elemental

elemental reactions and team resonances also have been things ive wanted in this game since day 1 (unfortunately they took down my post with my original document on game mechanics)

i do think it is a little janky with how there is "disabling" an element in your team, and it feels like a cop out from having to effectively design your team to not have that issue

i wont comment too much on the specific effects of all the elements, as balancing will always be a constant issue, but the general premises of everything you propsed are GREAT

it will be a longshot that the devs will actually change their current system to implement this tho, given how much of an overhaul would be needed

i think multiple elemental combinations should be able to be inflicted on an enemy at once (like how you can currently stun, bleed, freeze, slow, and burn an enemy at the same time)

i also think you should be able to stack them

you could start by scaling the elemental effects down so that stacking them and combining multiple types doesnt become op

i currently dont have any good ideas/solutions to the problem but i have other work to do rn, so ill get back to you tmrrw or smth

One issue I have with this is the elemental debuffs that they put on enemies. Sounds a little too much, and would easily get too messy, even with all of the mechanics you suggested to try and mitigate it.

You didn’t exactly provide an example but the whole point is to make teams around these debuffs/extra dmg bonuses, and even if you don’t feel like making a full team designed around one you could bring random units and still randomly proc some reaction(although not as effective as designing a full comp)
And if you have a team with to many reactions you are able to disable a reaction to make it less messy
