Tower defense games are always so repetitive so why not make it a bit more different? Instead of having just a set upgrade path that you see with almost every tower defense game, make it so that there are multiple paths of upgrading you can take that has a different move at the end of the path (Kind of like the bloons td 6 upgrade pathing. This would make gameplay more strategic and interesting and more unique to other tower defense games!

Did they? I haven't played that much so I don't really know, but if they did, they executed it poorly. Or are you talking about upgrading units so they are stronger outside of levels? Cus I'm talking about in a world or level they should have like different upgrade paths that has a different move at the end of each path. Not the ALS version of where you are essential buffing your units with a skill tree.

An example of this would be like with Speedwagon. You can have 2 branching paths where instead of generating cash per round, he could generate less cash but more frequent. Where a different path for speedwagon would just be his current upgrade path where you get more money per wave. A third path could be optional but for speedwagon it could be like a buff where you get more money per kill

So I tried out anime crossovers and has pretty much the same idea. I was thinking of it instead of being in units ui, it would be like you upgraded your unit a bit and almost like the nightmare difficult mode of selecting a negative for the run, it would instead give you multiple differnt path options. Like it would pop up a ui after upgrading speedwagon twice saying something like (Option 1) more money, (Option 2) Faster money, (Option 3) Increased slain money. With this they would be able to add more to the unit index npcs that tell you what each options do and stuff.

It’s a really good concept but it will take twice as much time or more to make an unit if they go with the different paths thing. I played crossovers a lot before anime vanguards launch and I was praying for them to add this but sadly they didn’t.
