Thanks! 🙂
@inner rover european peacock
Cool... one secret butterfly in with the birds! LOL
don't tell anyone
first of many imperial-pigeons
Are you still looking for an East Africa recipe?
Burundi + Tanzania = East Africa
thanks, but i did find it eventually
just crafted jacana
it's not a first discovery tho, so there's a better recipe out there
but rn it's time for bed
Idk what but I did something? Also I am trying to find apus for the constellation but I can't seem to get it. Any help appreciated
I tried going for swifts for the genus but I can't get far I have "apus" but it won't combine in any meaningful way and I have APU which almost always ends up in the simpsons
I am also trying to find tucana as well. I was able to get pavo and columba
the only way I can think of to get tucana would be to translate toucan into latin
got our first coua
the fact this isn't a first discovery is crazy to me
especially cos my recipe is so convoluted
alternate method for getting jacana, no letter wizardry recquired
8/8 jacanas
hey uh how to get rhea philippines for lesser rhea
ok thx
(Labrador retriever + ugly duckling) + (swamp thing + duck) -> Labrador Duck
yeah yeah ik
its in doc
how do i get lesser black backed gull (idk how to make glacuous gull for hybrid gull)
nvm im pretty sure i misspelled it
i got it now
ok now ive got another roadblock
how do i get tinamus tinamou
Gray Tinamou + Scientific Name -> Tinamus Tinamou
ok thx
nah im fine
though it is kinda insane what heights you need to go to in order to make birbs
American Myna + Merlin -> American Merlin
Falcon + Plural -> Falcons
Bird + Falcons -> Falconry
American Merlin + Falconry ->
American Falconry
American Falconry + American Merlin -> American Kestrel
posted it anyway for posterity's sake
ok
what about gray's anatomy
I don't have any records of that element!
um
gray's + lark
how to get gray's 💀
Gray + plural + possesive
Or gray + apostrophe
I'm not at my computer rn, but some combination like that should work
It works for me
wait what
Try gray + s + apostrophe
wait lemme try
- lark + tinamou
omg finally
There are different apostrophes that sometimes have different effects
Tell the diffirence (impossible)
i swear making these birds is impossible how to get hooded
hooded tinamou
Different apostrophe. LOL
One is the vertical (solitary) one, the other the curved (part of a pair) one. 🙂
yeah i noticed its funi
I was recently thrown by OL vs 0L! (and ol vs oI aswell - same recipe)
If it helps, my bird recipes use the curved apostrophe.
Bahama oriole + saint lucia
got our first cisticola
yo how do i get yellow tufted woodpecker
i just tested it
i cant make pygmy goose with the recipe in doc
sorry it was missing an ingredient
ok thats fair enough but what ingredient
(Green + Kelp Goose + Green Salad)+(Brown Booby + Cuckoo-dove + Pygmy + Green Salad) + Green Lawn -> Pygmy-goose
it's updated on the sheet too
this recipe might be easier actually
try with green hornet instead
are you working towards anything new or just recreating stuff?
ok how do i get grey-headed gull
i really wish you guys wrote down the things that arent in database
we did, it's written in the sheet
As part of the recipe for blue-grey goshawk
ok
It's also worth searching in the discord sometimes #1207217767229423637 message
this browser is a good resource for finding words
@inner rover are there any scientific names you need me to get, it's not something I usually do for this sheet
There's lots of birds on the new page... it'll be up later. 🙂
I just dropped that one in as it came up as a First Discovery.
first wagtail found
how to get pink bee-eater
Can you search? They'll come up on Ctrl-F.
(I'm not sure on mobile)
Cardinals are Family Cardinalidae (Cardinals and Allies)
Penguins are Family Spheniscidae (Penguins)
🙂
You should be able to sort the Family column & scroll down?
Cool. 🙂
I've no experience using mobile to view google sheets.
Just FYI: there are 18 Penguins (12 with recipes) & 29 Cardinals (17 with recipes). 🙂
Typo on the sheet:
Green Zebra Finxh instead of Finch. 🙂
In Planet Zoo & more... 🙂
✅ Hammerkop
that was something we were trying to indicate when something is lineaged
actucally maybe not
don't think it means anything
so um is anyone gonna tell me how i can get pink bee-eater or nah
pink penguin + little bee-eater
ok👍
Don't forget tho that there's more than one recipe especially for simple elements like Pink Bee-eater
If you're stuck on something and no one is around to give you a recipe I'd always recommend to trying to throw things together that seem logical
it doesn't have to be another bird, just using /lineage and finding anything that uses pink as an adjective can potentially work
that's how i created the element in the first place
dont think so
when i looked it up it was just in a recipe for something else
which is why i needed it
💀
no
i just mean that its kinda funny
if i thought you were dumb i would just say it tbh
logic
ok
huh
im not really in charge of it so im not gonna change anything
but maybe if the mods see it they'll change it
This is one particular list, that we are arbitrarily adhering to. We've found lots of birds that sound close to being real, or are subspecies or are alternative names
(Also you'll find the spot-billed ducks that are on the list if you include the hyphen)
3/3 screamers
coscoroba swan full recipe
Been trying to recreate:
Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, Barnacle Goose, Great Blue Turaco, Greater Rhea, Lava Gull, Laysan Duck, Mandarin Duck & Scarlet Macaw...
Come to a few blocks... 🙂
Neither of these seem to work:
Eurasian Bee-eater = Eritrean Bee-eater + Europe
Little Blue Penguin = Norway Penguin + Little Gull (this is just from my old hunt for Little Penguin)
And I can't find recipes for:
Lesser Philippine Duck, Guinan Cock-of-the-rock, Blue-crowned Hanging Parrot, Kenya Turaco, Hawaiian Finch, Icelandic Gull, Afghan Wood Duck, Blue-necked Mandarin, Rainbow Macaw, Canada Rhea & the non-bird Manx.
(all are used in other recipes)
Eurasian Bee-eater = Eritrean Bee-eater + European
Guiana + Motmot -> Guianan Cock-of-the-rock
Guinan was a typo
The recipe for Blue Crowned Hanging Parrot (sans hyphen) is in the sheet
Kenya Turaco is totally unknown, but from @surreal grove if they still have their save file
hawaiian finch is found with /lineage
Icelandic Gull is Icelandic + Iceland Gull
(but the rest of that recipe still doesn't work
canada rhea is in the discord bot
manx = isle of man + nationality
the other ones I don't have a clue because they're not my recipes
but if you find them let me know
@inner rover
OK. Will do. 😄
I checked for them in lineage! Must have typo'd. 🙂
Let me grab that! Sorry, motivation for me has kinda been low since submitting lineages has been down since I really want to have these in the bot
True, though the database has been showing newer additions!
https://infinitecraft.almund.cc/
At least it's got the meta-alphabets in it... if you give it time (it says not found to being with)
Sadly... another faulty recipe - Icelandic
Icelandic Gull + Ross's = Gull 🙂
BUT...
I'll swap out the recipe on the sheet cos those are way easier
What was your Funkin Peacock recipe? 🙂
🎶 Friday Night Funkin’ + 🦚 Peacock = 🦚 Funkin’ Peacock
🌍 Earth + 🌬️ Wind = 🌫️ Dust
🌫️ Dust + 🌍 Earth = 🪐 Planet
🔥 Fire + 🪐 Planet = ☀️ Sun
🔥 Fire + ☀️ Sun = ☀️ Solar
🪐 Planet + ☀️ Solar = 💻 System
🔥 Fire + 💻 System = 💻 Computer
💻 Computer + 💻 System = 💻 Software
🌍 Earth + 💻 Software = 🎮 Game
🔥 Fire + 🔥 Fire = 🌋 Volcano
💧 Water + 💧 Water = 🌊 Lake
🌊 Lake + 🌋 Volcano = 🏝️ Island
🌱 Plant + 🌱 Plant = 🌳 Tree
🌳 Tree + 💧 Water = 🌊 River
🌊 River + 🌳 Tree = 📃 Paper
📃 Paper + 📃 Paper = 📚 Book

🏝️ Robinson Crusoe + 🏝️ Robinson Crusoe = 📅 Friday
📅 Friday + 🎮 Game = 🎶 Friday Night Funkin
🎶 Friday Night Funkin + 💨 Smoke = 🎶 Friday Night Funkin’
🎶 Friday Night Funkin’ + 🦚 Peacock = 🦚 Funkin’ Peacock
Ah, I wasn't looking for an apostrophe.
a horrible recipe for Whistling-duck
Sheldon + Wood Duck is a much nicer recipe for Shelduck
trying to make North island brown kiwi, whats the recipe for "a"
can't find it anywhere
ruddy duck obtained
We need the lineage
ruddy duck
saltator recipe has already been found https://infinibrowser.zptr.cc/item/Saltator
RUFOUS HAS BEEN FOUND!!
here's a very shortened lineage
maybe we can get turaco from this
took me a while but i finally got it
thanks
great job!!
rip it's dead
Sounds like one of those really mean birds species names.
the bare-faced go-away bird straight up looks like a dinosaur
first oropendola
first ptarmigan
whats the recipe for Communist Myna?
if you're trying to make Red-billed Leiothrix, I'd recommend using the other reipe
both those elements are lineagede
@bronze stream thats our first meadowlark, great job
cleared up some of the rest, now on 7/8 meadowlarks just Chihuahuan meadowlark to go
Any of these of any interest? 🙂
Maybe here also?
That francolin and maybe the frigatebird and the partridge @inner rover
Nice easy ones! 🙂
national bird recipe? not in the spreadsheet
🐦 Blue Magpie + 🇹🇼 Taiwan = 🦅 National Bird
🇬🇷 Greece + 🏴☠️ Pirate = 🏹 Odysseus
🌍 Earth + 🪐 Planet = 🌙 Moon
🌙 Moon + 🌬️ Wind = 🐺 Werewolf
🌍 Earth + 🐺 Werewolf = 🐺 Wolf
🌍 Earth + 🐺 Wolf = 🐶 Dog
🐶 Dog + 🏹 Odysseus = 🛒 Argos

🐦 Ceylon Blue Magpie + 🇪🇸 Iberia = 🐦 Blue Magpie
🐦 Blue Magpie + 🇹🇼 Taiwan = 🦅 National Bird
5/5 snowcocks
Pallid dove
the weirder thing is that it isn't even a real bird
any of these birds useful?
From what I can see: blue-headed video, white-headed pigeon, white-throated streamertail
*vireo
And maybe ardea
God damn communist mynas.
✈️ Flying + 🌊 Lake = 🐦 Seagull
💧 Water + 💧 Water = 🌊 Lake
💧 Water + 🌬️ Wind = 🌊 Wave
🌍 Earth + 💧 Water = 🌱 Plant
🌱 Plant + 🌊 Wave = 🌊 Seaweed
🌊 Seaweed + 🌬️ Wind = 🪁 Kite
🪁 Kite + 🌬️ Wind = ✈️ Flying
✈️ Flying + 🌊 Lake = 🐦 Seagull
Seagull doesn't refer to a specific species of bird its more of a general term
Yeah
They're all other species of gulls
Like herring gulls or black-backed gulls
A seagull doesn't refer to any actual species
Laridae
Our sheet has a similar amount
There is no real list of all thr birds in the world
Because what we define as a species is always changing
And there's no consensus
It's eBirds latest list iirc
Yeah
I guess they're included for taxonomic reasons
Just a note... you have the St. Helena Hoopoe (extinct) & the two other living species but you don't have the African Hoopoe in your list. 🙂
Maybe I just missed it though.
I'm just about to dig through my elements to see if there's anything on my list that you need. 😄
Previous recipes didn't work for me.
Couldn't find a Flying Finch recipe to complete the Mandarin Duck, so here's a couple of useful recipes for people:
Just going through the sheet... you have a few recipes with only 1 component.
Blue-and-gold Tanager, Pink-headed Warbler, Swamp Sparrow, Brown-breasted Flycatcher, Yellow-bellied Warbler, Common Redpoll, Pied Butcherbird & Desert Owl.
I'll check to see which are mistakes and which are missing the second element
Obviously I can only do it based on the birds I have
Just thought you'd like to know. 🙂
If I find the recipes I'll put them up.
Cheers 🙂
OK... these are the one's I have that the sheet doesn't show recipes for. (1st pass)
I think African Hoopoe isn't in the sheet because it's still a contentious issue whether its a subspecies of the Eurasia Hoopoe or not
I'd love as many of those recipes as possible
Interesting... I've not seen any dispute but then they're not always public. (and I'm not particularly searching. 🙂 )
we're using ebirds list and this is just how they decide it https://ebird.org/species/eurhoo2?siteLanguage=en_GB
Fair enough. Good to know the source. 🙂
i'm stuck on common redpoll and pied butcherbird
I have found the discussion now that I've looked for it... still ongoing. LOL
Always the way.
none of these have been my recipes but the others weren't too hard to recreate
I think there's some confusion... I have ALL of those recipes... they're (mostly) my discoveries. 🙂
I'll post them over time - bit much to dump them all. 😄
these recipes?
LOL... no. It's apparently ME getting confused! LOL
I also have... these recipes you're missing.
(they have slightly different punctuation than on the list)
yeah i saw the scrub jay recipe before
Arctic Warbler! 🙂
Black-throated Babbler! 🙂
Blue-naped Parrot! 🙂
Boreal Owl! 🙂
Brown-chested Barbet! 🙂
1st 5... I'll leave it a while before posting a few more - unless you want any in particular now? 🙂
yellow-browed warbler
Yellow-browed Warbler! 🙂
i don't have recipes for either of these components could you give a more complete lineage
Sure...
and the recipe for yellow-headed warbler too
yep thanks 🙂
May as well throw the other Warbler in! 🙂
got the redpoll recipe
also found redstart and yellowthroat on the way
and here's a recipe for butcherbird i developed Common Nighthawk + Red-backed Shrike -> Shrike Thrush + Butcher -> Butcherbird
Nickname + Scientific Name -> Scientific Nickname
Brown-breasted Bulbul! 🙂
New one.
first bulbul
Purple Gallinule! 🙂
i'm so surprised this wasn't a first discovery
might be a bit late but here's the lineage
Thanks everyone. I've added all you birds to the sheet
My little Bulbul seems to have been a full on floodgate! LOL
@here also could you guys try combining these with scientific name?
bc this will help #1218847395496988752 A LOT by completing over half the birds
Yes 💀
If you search common name or scientific name in the sheet it'll give you some of the recipes involving taxonomic names that we've already found
oh ok
but not all have been tried with scientific name correct?
Yeah definitely
alr
someone needs to do that sometime
or maybe someone can give me their save
which has the bird species
And I for one haven't kept track of what has and hasn't just because we've been doing this for over a month and we've just been looking for common names
yeah
maybe just try everything with scientific name
and tahitian scientific name bc that works too sometimes
That would be literally thousands of elements both real and fake
It's a lot to keep track of
only real ofc
prob just set up a separate sheet for scientific names
and then you can keep track
That's not really the aim of this atm
ok
but would appreciate it
since #1218847395496988752 is very hard to complete 😦
Some would say impossible
some would say that
but if you can get every specific epithet in curlies
you can combine those with genera
and boom, all species done (very tedious tho)
Also is this a real thing or ?
Not in english
Ara is a term for macaw/parrot in a variety of other languages
oh ok
got it
also where do i start here?
bc it seems like everything needs other stuff to get
Depends what you're working towards
Obviously you'll want very simple words like "bird"
already have that, duh
~99 percent of infcraft saves should have that
But I'd you check the second sheet you'll find the simplistic terms like owl or hawk or mockingbird
ye ik about the second sheet
Is there anything you're looking for specifically
not really
just looking to see if my stuff can combine with anything
im working on mollusc genera rn
idk if anything here will help but maybe
I cant think of anything immediate that would
I'd imagine using the alternative alphabets is probably your best bet
For a lot of them
yall forgot turkey
himalayan rubythroat
caspian gull
calliope hummingbird
The sheet says we need Wild turkey instead of just turkey and it doesn't keep track of scientific names.
ONE I CAN HELP WITH FINALLY!!!!
I'm doing it a diffrent way than everyone else, is that okay?
If it is okay I want to help more! I usually have trouble helping because everyone has done a lot of them already but this one has lots of stuff open!
@here just wanted to ask, how was the spreadsheet set up?
I want to create something like this but i don't know how to set up a spreadsheet with this many species 😦
I'd be happy to help you set up one.
alr, i want to make one for palm genera (and species)
so only one family (Arecaceae) but an exceptionally large one
how do i do it?
Cool... best first step is to start a new bounty-board for it and we can move the chat over to there. 🙂
Are you OK doing that?
ofc i am
LOL 😄
Cool... see you there. 🙂
@inner rover Do you know if the stuff I found will end up on the spreadsheet?
It will so
Sorry i haven't been able to access my computer and I'm the only one currently active in this thread can make edits to the sheet
🙂
All the recipes from over this past weekend should have been added. Great work everyone!!
Bulbul + White paint -> White Bulbul
now we have our first egrets and flowerpecker
How to get Lark
🌎 Common + 🐦 Nightingale = 🦉 Lark
🧛 Vampire + 🌿 Weed = 🧮 Count
🧮 Count + 🧮 Count = 🔢 Number
🌱 Plant + 🌱 Plant = 🌳 Tree
💦 Holy Water + 🌳 Tree = 😇 Jesus
😇 Jesus + 🌳 Tree = ✝️ Cross
✝️ Cross + 🔢 Number = Ⅰ Roman Numeral
🔥 Fire + Ⅰ Roman Numeral = 🅱️ V
🔥 Fire + 🌬️ Wind = 💨 Smoke
🌱 Plant + 💨 Smoke = 🕯️ Incense
🌳 Tree + 💧 Water = 🌊 River
🌍 Earth + 🌊 River = ⬇️ Delta
🌊 River + 🌳 Tree = 📃 Paper
📃 Paper + 📃 Paper = 📚 Book
📚 Book + ⬇️ Delta = 🔠 Alphabet
🔠 Alphabet + 📚 Book = 📖 Dictionary
🔠 Alphabet + 📖 Dictionary = 💬 Language
📖 Dictionary + 💬 Language = 🇬🇧 English
🇬🇧 English + 🕯️ Incense = 🧠 Sense
🧠 Sense + 🅱️ V = 🌎 Common
🌎 Common + 🐦 Nightingale = 🦉 Lark
all the general bird terms (like lark) we've found are on the third page of the sheet
Why does that command never work for me
There weren't instructions on how to get it on that page
yeah the green next to the term means its in the bot or its on one of the other databases (which will be linked)
don't know why the command isn't working for you
sometimes you have to wait for the terms to load before you press enter
you guys may want this
best i could do
Gang-gang Cockatoo - Not sure if you all allow alt alphabet style things but I tried other methods and this was the only method I could find that worked for this particular species.
They dont mind alt alphabet
Bermuda Flicker
- Unplural = Galah
I haven't worked on any of this in a couple weeks
i got some new ones though
Pretty sure those are snails not birds
Pretty sure that's a joke
I'm confused. It's a joke made by a conservationist 30 years ago because of a collaboration with the international council for bird preservation
It doesn't make these small endangered snails a species of bird
i dont think its a joke?
Why nit
why would it?
this is the first issue of IUCN's official mollusc newsletter
and also Partula extinction event just started so as of release the atmosphere is very serious as species were on the line at this time (many of which were lost in the end)
also *not
i guess?
they're honorary birds though
they never said when that title expired
Someone saying something is an "honorary bird" is a very clear joke (at least to me) because that's in no way how taxonomy works
ye it isnt
but ig its some sort of conservation thing
idk lol
idk if this is useful to anyone but i got this
when trying to get a scientific name out of some prehistoric creature
I can’t believe delete the 0 and remove last character worked. Usually those sorts of transformations happen once in a blue moon!
are you guys doing extinct birds coz we have a lot right here
Nice!
i have piwakawaka if you guys need
Any bird is great
(But I’m not the person to update spreadsheets so I’m limited to moral support ::))
Mhm, feel free to post the creation pathways or recipes in the chat.
The sheet only focused on extant last time I checked
? odd
It’s easier to find a list of every extant bird than extinct
Also the lines between what is and isn't a bird get pretty blurry pretty quickly
Some of the more recently extinct species (past 100 years of so) are included in the sheet
it might be a good idea to specify that somewhere noticeable
Dodo, Rodrigues/Reunion solitaires?
also what about those lesser antilles parrots that are dubious?
Which parrots do you mean, I was more referring to the fossil record
these 5 dubious Ara species
AAN made a video about them (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7_7DFHcqhY)
Check us out on Patreon:
https://www.patreon.com/user?u=90710607
In this video we're looking at eight disputed hypothetical parrot species from the islands of the Caribbean.
- The Lesser Antillean Macaw
- The Dominican Green-and-Yellow Macaw
- The Guadeloupe Amazon
- The Guadeloupe Parakeet
- The Martinique Amazon
- The Martinique Macaw
7...
I'll check them out
I imagine they weren't included on the ebird list just because their existence is somewhat speculative
@everyone IDEA:
"hi " and "the " are very good at prepending words
Anyone tried using them yet to get bird species?
For demonstrations see #1233710074438877235 - all but 2 species obtained so far use this strat
seems like a lot happened when i was absent
yep
@everyone inactive again???
did you get it? i just got it
another great past board
🦜
It was a good time
no way first message in 3 months
but hey things are going well in marath so
Hey
who up myzornising
I cant grant permission to edit the sheet, but if anyone finds any new birds ill be happy to add them
do prehistoric ones count?
We were just aiming for the ones on the pinned sheet
now aim for all birds :D
got bored and messed around for the first time in a while, got the hypocolius, the first nothuras, pond heron, owlet-nightjar and a couple others
just like old times
what even caused the downfall in the first place
i can imagine
no way kapemarn
Time, I must assume
well if youre interested in anything prehistoric (including birds) (and say hi to abestron)
head over to prehistoric species
all birds are extinct they just put up government drones that look like them to fill in the void when they go extinct
found a very bird-specific adjective, so here all the "cinereous" birds I could discover
also finished up the scoters
discovered the island of Mindoro, so here's some filipino birds
Damn people have messaged here recently
birb
"bird-specific"
pretty sure that's just referring to the color
my bad
at least someone cares about hawaiian birds lol
Theyve got awesome names but nobody remembers that they exist
‘akikiki is such a fuckin wild word
oh yeah ʻamakihi isnt a specific species
youre telling me you made a word with a triple “ki” and starting with a glottal stop?? 😂
Iirc theres 4 different species with the name ʻamakihi so you gotta make them smh
not rn I don’t, it’s 2am lol
right now you do, it is not 2 am
Gems_paws just call it an okina
I will not remember the name okina, sowwy
think of it as ok in a, In A is very memorable since it makes those sentences and ok is just there ,,,
Easy peasy you have to be rockbrained to not be able to remember okina
I will donate you a non-rock for a brain
pls do
it's not 2 am anymore chop chop
Got this one last night
made sedge wren too though it seems like that one was made already
American Widgeon, Eurasian Widgeon, Chiloe Widgeon
windows + print screen
I use edge on Xbox I can’t
dead
dead
i miss this chat so much
Been birding for the past few days
Wallace's Hawk-tuah
Was the grey go-away-bird ever made that one has a neat alternative common name (kwêvoël)
Nice work, I could consider getting back into birds on IC again.
at least someone continued the legacy for a time
I wish this was so alive
we currently have this many birds left in https://discord.com/channels/1203527044957208596/1208085213620469890, while not alive you can at least talk abot them and make some
that or you can slowly begin reviving this board, i can help a little bit maybe
It’d be fun to continue there’s some good memories here
Here are some birds:
Galbula
Galbula ruficauda
Galbula pastazae
Nice!
New genus unlocked
yo this is back!
bump
