Atmosians have become weak and feeble due to effectively infinite gas at no cost. Inefficient TEG and SM set-ups which have dumped enough gas into space that its probably collapsed and formed a star on its own, and waste gases not filtered for reuse and just thrown into space as well.

We should instead need to more actively manage our existing gas supply through a closed loop system, and design input efficient set ups for our engines.

  • I doubt we are ever getting ttvs when we got infinite plasma on hand.

We will create so many Atmos jobs which have been lost due to bluespace technology, and innovation the likes that has never been seen before. They will say, "wow Huddy, I had no idea Atmos could be so beautiful" and it will be so beautiful. We will make Atmosia great again

In all seriousness though, I do think this would give Atmos at least a bit more to do and monitor during the shift, and have them interact with cargo more. Dealing with resource scarcity adds a layer of planning and management that I think would benefit the role.

It's hard for me to figure out the right words for this part but i like the idea of the station being somewhat self-sufficient, and gas miners as they are don't really align with that

#

I did think about that a bit, and I would need to do a bit of testing on a local server but I don't think the station even consumes that much O2 and n2 when operating normally, and actually very little from if I remember correctly. Definitely consumes more when it needs to refill a spaced room but there is already quite a bit in the chambers from what I recall. Never really ran into this issue back when I used to play on ss13/tgstation and we definitely didn't have gas miners then. it's probably fine to have a fair bit of gas to start with, but if youre pressure pumping like 2000+kpa of O2 for over half the shift, then I feel like yeah maybe we should start to run out of O2 and crucify the Atmos tech who did that

#

If lack of N2/O2 would be an issue and that can't be reasonably fixed by just doing some balancing for the amount in the chamber at the start, alternatives could be something like leaving gas miners for those two and removing it for the other gases and/or having some shitty gas miners at the start that can be upgraded later if sci researches it. Or have the gas miners have a spesos cost per mol of gas mined.

u can remove gas miners when atmos gets any content

#

also it would make a lot of exotic gas setups even more uselses than they already are because they already take forever to set up

#

as well as making TEG useless because you have to pump in high pressure amounts of gas

#

atmos has pretty much no content why are we removing content

#

anyways gas miners are bad but until there is an actual way to fix them then no they stay

#

(and when atmos gets any other content)

TEG does absolutely not need high pressures, you can easily get away with <1000kpa, and a closed loop and that's being somewhat inefficient already and what I was saying in my original post

Exotic gas synthesis is arguably more useless due to gas miners. How? Because any interesting things that use them like gas crystalization+subsequent crafting from 13 (which again did not have them) does not balance well when you have infinite gas on hand.

And that's essentially the crux of my point. Theyre anti-content. We can't get stuff like ttvs or things like the crystalization crafting stuffs as with infinite gas it would be too damn broken.

I just want my ttvs and single tank bombs back, how can I become Cuban Pete without them 🥺
