let's test whether your port forwarding is working:

  • edit your SPT_Data/Server/configs/http.json and change both "ip" and "backendIp" to 0.0.0.0
  • Launch SPT.Server.exe and wait for it to fully load and say Happy Playing
  • create a port forward rule in your router for port 6969/tcp to your PC where you just ran SPT.Server.exe
  • restart router or whatever you think you need to do to get the port forward rule to take
  • go to https://portchecker.co and test if port 6969 is reporting Open
#

(it is not possible to check if udp port forwards are working, so you need to try with a tcp service like the spt server)

So this method will work with my buddys server being up still

#

i should of been more clear im sorry if that changes things

#

im getting reports that both 25565 and 6969 ports are closed

#

from port checker

gotcha

sullen pecan
#

can you post a screenshot that includes both your server console showing the 'Webserver started on http://' as well as the portchecker.co showing 6969 as closed (censor out your public IP)

k so try one more thing before i draw any conclusions:

  • close SPT.Server.exe
  • right-click SPT.Server.exe in file explorer and choose Copy
  • right-click somewhere in the blank space in the folder and choose Paste
    • this should have created a new file named something like SPT.Server - Copy.exe - confirm?
  • launch the newly created copy
  • Windows Firewall should pop up a dialog asking you to allow or deny, make sure both Private & Public are checked and click Allow
  • test if 6969 is open on portchecker.co

i just did the follwing but it no prompt

#

port still shows closed

sullen pecan
#

no prompt? hmm, maybe not. usually that works.

one more test? download the SPT direct download and extract it somewhere not in your normal SPT install. like in a folder on your desktop or something. edit http.json to 0.0.0.0 again and run SPT.Server.exe and see if windows firewall prompts.

#

for the record, i get a windows defender firewall prompt for just creating the copy. i get the feeling something is wrong with your windows firewall, like maybe you have other anti-virus software or something.

i use bitdefender

#

maybe thats stopping the connecion?

sullen pecan
#

that is 100% what is wrong

#

lol

#

-# CURSED BITDEFENDER MAKING MY LIFE 1000% harder than needed

#

still doesnt trigger my firewall

#

even with the fresh copy

#

on the desktop

sullen pecan
#

disable or uninstall bitdefender or learn how to make firewall exceptions for bitdefender. as long as it's enabled your windows firewall will not trigger.
