Selecting emojis from the GUI menu crashes Discord

While I can type emojis with the colon syntax without issues, clicking one in the GUI either to put it in the chat window or attach it to a status causes Discord to crash and reload.

Reactions to chat messages are affected, but the "react to post" button in forums is not.

Scratch that. Reacting to forums is now affected?

is this with discord run as a PWA in Trivalent, or the discord flatpak, or discord installed in some other way?

I do see an out of bounds memory access in the Trivalent console though
