I can install flatpaks using KDE Discover and the terminal, however to launch flatpaks, I would either need to use the terminal or go to ~/.local/share/flatpak/exports/share/applications/ and double click their icon. I'd prefer if I can launch flatpaks from the application launcher for more convenience.
I installed steam using ujust install-steam first, and reinstalled steam from KDE Discover to try to troubleshoot this problem.

You can try moving those .desktop files to ~/.local/share/applications/. Once that is done, you should be able to see them in the app launcher

that worked
mullvad vpn also showed up too, but i only use the CLI version so it's whatever
i didnt move them but rather copy and pasted the .desktop files to the directory and it instantly worked
i deleted it shortly after and it still works
im not sure how that fixed it
it works after reboot and with new flatpak installs
what an odd issue and an odder solution
