all gnome apps apparently fail to install. the icons are broken. logging out then back in fixes icons. none of the gnome apps will open when i click them. chromium-browser displays some errors on terminal.

is this a fresh install? what did you rebase from?

#

i have a strong suspicion of what caused this

#

also what iso did you use

digital egret
#

howdy

#

@jaunty pilot can you post your rpm-ostree status

#

this is unfortunately an issue with the f41 ISO, I updated the docs accordingly, however you shouldn't need to reinstall. it should be a quick fix

#

@jaunty pilot please ping me when you're available so i can walk you through the fix, should be pretty quick

my bad

#

i’m at work and didn’t see this

digital egret
#

oh

#

all good

fiery valve
#

but anyways i toggled unconfined userns creation and everything worked

#

though i don’t really want to keep that

digital egret
#

yeah

#

it more or less should go away after a newly staged deployment of any kind

#

and rebooting into that

#

@fiery valve tldr the rpm-ostree version in the f41 ISO is old and has an unfixed bug, so deployments it generates have issues

but once you're on secureblue, you have the fixed ostree, so a new deployment should fix it

#

new deployments meaning upgrades, layering, etc

#

you may want to rpm-ostree cleanup just to be extra sure there aren't old artifacts

#

but shouldn't be needed

fiery valve
#

i don’t have secureblue on my laptop anymore but i’m going to be installing it on one of my prodesks, so that’s good to know

digital egret
#

which doesn't have this issue

#

i just confirmed so in a vm

fiery valve
#

these tickets don’t get deleted after a period of time after closing right

digital egret
#

correct

fiery valve
#

alright great

digital egret
#

ah yeah, someone else had this issue and restarting into a new deployment fixed it, which is expected #secureblue message
