#Failure at boot
1 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
@molten juniper you can't boot into the previous deployment?
also what image is this
negative
silverblue-main-userns-hardened
you have two corrupted deployments? how is that even possible? what changes did you make recently
none
also as root please run journalctl -u ostree-prepare-root -r
only thing I can think of is sticking a fido2 security key in while it was booting because I would need it once I'm booted
please pastebin this
how would I copy it tho
and youre 100% sure selecting entry 1 instead of 0 at grub doesnt change anything?
this looks similar
yes, I tried multiple times
I have four entries
0,1 0,1
are you able to rebase? say to kinoite
ya
gonna rebase to non userns
sh: rpm-ostree: command not found
I think it's fucked
maybe my SSD died?
but like not entirely
or I got a virus and it wiped it
oh right, emergency shell...
i doubt it, it wouldnt have booted this far
this looks like the exact same issue @molten juniper
can you document your findings there
seems like a critical ostree bug
so basically ostree can poop itself like this at random?
I assume my home directory is alive? I only care about my chromium files.
Haven't made a backup of those in a while
apparently they thought they fixed it years ago, but if you're seeing this then they didn't....
this individual claims to have a fix though https://github.com/ostreedev/ostree/issues/2283#issuecomment-2111188489
you should document your findings in that issue if you don't mind and you could even tag cgwalters
asking them to prioritize this
as it's causing corruption
okie
apppreciate it, hopefully you can get a temp fix
looks like it should be possible
but at a minimum they need to reopen that issue and get it properly fixed
this is more than a bit embarrassing for ostree ngl
I'll do this in a couple days
alright
good luck on your exams
thankies
ok I think I'll just live boot, copy my chromium files to a user on my laptop with the same lock screen password, export the bookmarks, copy any not backed up data and install windows on the desktop until I get a mac.
or reinstall secureblue
or get rid of the desktop entirely
according to the last comment in that issue, it may be as simple as modifying your grub config
but extracting your data and reinstalling seems like the most clean option
yeah
if i wasn't maintaining secureblue something like this would also probably annoy me enough to stay away from ostree distros until they fix this
not saying you should
just saying i would understand
for me it's just annoying because in like 3 months I'm gonna be using a Mac (hopefully)
ah ๐
if you have a minute, when you back up your files, can you grab the rdsosreport.txt as mentioned in your screenshot
this is pretty bad... ๐
@molten juniper #1074422586894712912 message
it shows unknown for me
join the ublue server
one of the ublue maintainers encountered this issue and had to reinstall
this needs to get fixed....
๐
@royal violet I can do the log extraction rn if it's not an hour long process
ok so chatgpt can't help me
none of the methods work
mount doesn't work, BusyBox doesn't work, etc
dont sweat it
focus on your exams
I cooked my laptop too...
welp I'm not getting that chromium data anymore and also I couldn't find the logs, almost all of the ostree directories were empty
that's on me tho
I took the SSD out while it was suspended to ram, which obviously fucked the system when I replugged it with a bunch of files from the desktop
