Running the apps on XWayland appears to fix the issue,I have no idea what exactly is causing this, although the logs seem to point to a driver failure, which is odd since I'm on a AMD GPU,I have tested Chromium,Discord and Freetube,I searched and haven't found anyone sharing the same issue

#Poor video playback performance on Chromium/Electron apps under native Wayland

are you able to repro on an upstream ublue image?
I will try it out
I just tested the base Ublue Kinoite image and can still reproduce the issue,
even though the logs aren't showing the 300 lines of errors anymore, the performance is still abysmal
Which leads me to conclude this is probably a KDE Wayland issue
The next step is rebasing to Silverblue and see if I can reproduce it under GNOME,
although I'm gonna have to do more research about this, since rebasing from Kinoite to Silverblue seems to be a rough experience
It's not. who told you that it is?
I saw reports on Reddit mentioning how KDE's left-over config files can mess up GNOME
Welp, rebasing to Silverblue completely broke Native Wayland on Chromium/Electron,and I can't see any useful errors on the log,
Honestly,I will just chalk it up to some weird issue with my setup and give up on it for now
This is my current setup btw,it's old hardware at this point

It's largely overblown. They're just dotfiles. At worst your fonts or themes are a little off so you take 30 seconds to fix them
I see,thanks for the info
Huh,seems I finally found the issue I'm having
https://www.reddit.com/r/Fedora/comments/1bkzmrs/comment/kw22hr6/
On Nvidia i got a similar issue, no hardware acceleration works. I got this in Chrome://gpu:
The Log says; [420618:420618:0504/111930.835426:WARNING:vaapi_wrapper.cc(1509)] : Skipping nVidia device named: nvidia-drm
Does forcing it to run on XWayland fix it?
you can edit the chromium conf file in /etc/chromium and remove the --ozone-platform=wayland flag in order to try it out
I will test it 🤔 It's the same! It will not work! I also tried it in pure X11, does not work ether.
just to be clear, this is all reproducible on base ublue right? if so you should open a ticket to the Fedora chromium maintainers
also confirm that you have no chromium.conf overrides
you can create a seperate account to load up another desktop's config files and not clutter your home folder
