Your steps are leading town stray. You are Phantom.

Abilities

Impersonate - Select and visit a player who you will be impersonating.
Shadow step - Visit another player. To Investigative roles your visits will appear as impersonated player.

Idea is to have these ghost visits that confuse investigative roles.. specially town ones. However if phantom isnt impersonating anyone Shadowstep visits become normal visits. Phantom as bookholder attacks with shadowstep visits. If phantom chooses to use impersonate as bookholder they dont attack that night.

In all cases Player 1 is Phantom and impersonates player 2

Case one: Player 2 visits 3 and Phantom impersonates to visit player 4
Case two: Player 2 is seer and visits 3 and 4, Phantom visits 4
Case three: Player 2 doesnt visit Phantom visits 4

**Tracker: ** Case one: Tracker will see Player 2 visits Player 3 and 4 and Tracker will see Player 1 not visit
Case two: Tracker will see Player 2 visit Player 3 once and Player 4 twice
Case three: Tracker will see Player 2 visit Player 4

**Lookout: ** Case one: LO visits 3 and see Player 2 visits Player 3 or LO visits 4 and see Player 2 visit Player 4
Case two: LO visits 4 and see Player 2 visit Player 4 twice.
Case three: LO visits 4 and see Player 2 visit Player 4.

**Investigator: ** Tresspassing: Shadow step visits doesnt have any effect on investigator results on either Player 1 or 2. Exept if Phantom isnt impersonating. Impersonate visits do count towards trepassing. For Murder... My idea was it doesnt show murder. (Dont know if thats broken or not.)

**Coroner: ** Killer is Phantom if phantom killed while not impersonating and can find phantom. Killer impersonated (role of the impersonated player) and cannot find killer.

Spy Will see Phantom visit if Phantom is not impersonating. Will see role of impersonated player if phantom is impersonating.

Trickster Will absorb attack from (role that phantom is impersonating).

Werewolf his tracking ability will be affected same way as tracker.

Plaguebearer Impersonated shadowstep visits spread infections from impersonated player.

Warlock Warlock curses spread on the Impersonated shadowstep visits.

Arsonist Arsonist will douse players from phantom visits, if they are impersonated and douse impersonated person if phantom visits them.

Shroud If impersonated player is shrouded. Shroud will attack also the person phantom visited.

If none of these roles are in-play might as well play Covenite

And when they are, having vampire hunters for roles that absolutely do not need it is abysmal awfulness

we don't need a single role that fucks with visit detection, we need visit deception on existing roles like enchanter and illusionist

I think this could be quite strong. You can manipulate visits of your team members and your enemies alike. Especially in set lists. In AA/TAA its weaker bcs you never know what is hiding among other players. But bcs of you, your teammates can make quite a few plays with this role. Not risking they will be caught bcs you can make it like their info will be correct. But thats just my opinion.

they’re not arguing that the ability is useless, they’re arguing that if Invest, Tracker, or LO don’t spawn, that this role does literally nothing else

Somewhat similar to enchanter’s enchant ability being useless if Sheriff, Invest, Psychic, and Seer don’t exist. However Enchanter has Alterate to make up for that shortcoming; this has nothing like that

either way I think the faking visits niche already exists pretty well on DW
