Rally (♾️)

  • Rally two players each night (astral visit). When all living members of town have been rallied, begin a Peaceful Protest tomorrow.
  • If the game starts with 5 or fewer town-aligned players, you learn this & must rally every living player, not just members of town.

Protest

  • Pacifist no longer dies if voted in protest, the day merely continues.

Notes:

  • Rally is a permenant status effect now that you give to two players each night. Evil players can still be rallied and appear to be rallied, but it doesn't do anything.
  • The intent behind the rally changes on Town's side is to make pacifist's protests more common. Currently pacifist has to juggle both staying undercover & solving the game in order to have a successful protest, both of which are significantly difficult and they mean that a successful protest barely ever happens. The change would make Pacifist far more likely to activate protests & allow them to primarily focus on the social aspect of staying hidden from evils, which is more fun & unique.
  • The change also means you can't start a protest too quickly in general (the absolute fastest time being by Day 4, without evils stomping town) which means there doesn't need to be an arbitrary limit on what day the Pacifist can protest by, but also makes it much more balanced when an evil player has the role such as in TT.

Also protest killing pacifist means u can accidentally throw the game by using ur ability and that stinks so that's why that should be boiled but uh yay I fogot to say that

It’s too difficult to stay on top of them all at the same time so the role isn’t really performing how I had hoped

& also the current systems kind of conflict with each other since, you’re rarely ever going to get to a point where you as the pacifist have solved the game while also remaining undetected and not letting evils process of elimination that you’re the pacifist

As far as the rework goes I think it’s slightly unneeded but with some tweaks I’m not wholly against a minor rework to paci

I think the biggest thing I do like is that if Paci gets voted during Protest they don’t insta-die, mainly as using protest in some scenarios can actually be worse for town than not as you can give up majority on accident

It would also assuming the rally ability stays the same (needing all TOWN) it would make TT Paci less potentially threatening

I will say the clause of <5 townies is bad

This is because A town in these games is already at a disadvantage and B it completely changes how you have to and can play by giving you unalterable information

Just put a clause in saying a Rally can’t happen until D4 minimum

I'm personally fine with Pacifist's low proc rate. I feel as double visit rally would make the role considerably too strong, though. In a 10 Town game, a perfect scenario of Pacifist successfully Rallying Town every night while one unrallied Townie dies per night results in an n3 proc. The issue is, it's not that unlikely (especially since in said scenario, it both relies on no extra town dying/getting mislynched)

Worst case scenario, where you rally every player in the game for one reason or another, that's an n7 proc

You never know exactly who to rally and I can guarantee a good portion of rallied players will be dying

It would effectively always be d4 onwards that protests occur

The point is to make pacifist focused on the social side of their ability & be able to have that actually matter without the game needing to be solved

Like pacifist's ability is waayyy too niche right now. Pacifist rn is basically just the role that can punish evils for being too confident that they'll win without solving the game ig but I want it to have more of an actual presence in the game than that & not require evil to kind of throw in order to do anything

Hot take, I don’t dislike this, especially if you look at BToS as a test server, realistically we’ll never know how well this is played without actually having games with it since it’s such a unique role. Pacifist having to juggle two things is definitely a problem and the most fun solution is changing how rally works rather than changing how pacifist has to claim (which is the most fun part about paci).

I don’t like the second part of rally. Getting 100% true info with no counter play changes how your game is played completely, however the only time this would happen is TAA probably so I’m indifferent, I suggest changing it to

  • If the game starts with town in the minority, you must have all alive town rallied along with at least half of the currently alive people in the game in order to start a protest
  • You will not know if town starts in the minority or not

I also think they should only be able to visit once on N1, there’s no info to go off of so it’s completely random if they rally a town or not which might result in a win for them earlier then they would have gotten it

Or just not let them visit n1 and force rally themselves

I’m personally such a fan of the way Pacifist works now

The only issue being the potential to lose if you rally with 1 kill away from Majority

#

This also makes Pacifist now an ASSURED death role which makes TT hunt even weirder because you can always win if you just try to avoid hunt

Im fine with Paci maybe getting a bit more leeway somehow but this feels excessive if that make sense

Also TBH even in its current "unreliable" state i think Paci offers more on average to town than Mayor or Monarch
