Reason for Change
Voodoo Master right now sucks-- not in terms of power, but in terms of interactability and health for the game.
The ability to gain Coven majority a day earlier via blocking someone's vote is problematic for a multitude of reasons, and as such, has been removed with this change.
However, Voodoo Master also has two other issues that need to be fixed:
- Silencing as a whole is dumb and renders players unable to meaningfully interact with others during the day.
- The actual utility a Voodoo Master provides outside of vote manipulation is lacking, as it only serves to delay the inevitable whenever a player has actually found a Coven member.
This change would limit, but not completely blot out, the ability for a player opposing the Coven to speak and vote, thus rendering them still able to interact with the game and get information out if they and other players manage to crack the code. This offers enough counterplay to thus warrant consecutive targeting, which I believe will also help balance out the role's utilities as a whole.
Also... I think forcing players to speak without vowels and numbers of the like is an interesting puzzle for players to work around that, while severely limiting communication, will still add a bit of fun and chaos to attempting to navigate, if nothing else. The point of this rework is to make it so that TIs have trouble sharing info and players have trouble sharing reads; I'd say it does so pretty well.
