yeah i agree
losing defense on alert kinda defeats the purpose of it imo
and if you're visited by a killing role, sure you kill them, but you die in the process
its just a worse BG
because you can only self
the second part is good tho

when you're baiting as a veteran
or just alerting in general
you're basically taking the hit for other people
removing vet's defense is a big ol fuck you to the role
because thats the only thing that keeps a veteran alive
if you have the second part of the role
or your rework i mean

Its there as a choice was my thinking, take the risk to remove a risk of killing town, you can still alert as normal
this is kind of a weird comparison to make but heres how i think of that
what if crusader killed only harmful visitors
then the role would just be objectively the best TP
that would make veteran unfun to play against as an evil
because you dont know it exists until an evil dies to it
the whole point of veteran's alert is to show evils to be extremely cautious, because they might get a bullet put in them
Understandable, thats why i was open to balancing and making the role quite so powerful
Also vet could only do it once if it takes two charges
but if you have no defense as a veteran
then you'd be fucked
because if they have the necronomicon holder visiting prominent townies
and you happen to be talking alot
you'll still end up dying
sure you kill the necronomicon holder, thats one coven down
but thats not FUN
even if it takes 2 charges
which btw

I get what you mean but yeah, seeing the 2nd choice get implemented would be neat. I hate being vet and being outed d2 due to a townie walking into me. And wanted to suggest means to combat that
then just have the second option

Like, maybe it wont kill TI? But will kill TS and TP

maybe have veteran able to pick someone every day like socialite's party invites
and they'll be safe from the blast
it'd make sense for a veteran to recognize a few familiar faces and not shoot them
