Attack: None
Defense: None

Abilities/Attributes:
Erudition:
• Choose any evil role to learn if any instance of said role performed an action during the night.
■ You will not learn about day abilities.
■ You will not know how many of said role performed an action, you'll just know that at least one or none happened.
☆ A role will count as performing an action so long as they actively perform an ability. Being unable to due to an Unknown Obstacle or being roleblocked will count as no actions performed.
(Dunno how this would work with arso trying to clean gas from themselves since that's technically an ability and therefore an action, also since Pirate only has day actions and is already pretty visible I think there's no need for it to be selectable)
• Non present roles will naturally never perform actions. However bodies used by Retributionists or Necromancer will count as performing actions.
• Illusioned Coven will be hidden from your results. Mass Hysteria will revert them.

Insight (special)(2):
• Enables you to perform Erudition on town roles aswell (maybe except your own because you'll just find yourself and Deputy since it only has a day ability).
• Enchanted (and SC'd) townies will be hidden from your results.

Feedback:
> You have decided to use your Insight tonight.
> You have decided to use your Erudition to learn about #Jailor.
> Your studies could not find any action occurring tonight.
> Your studies found that the chosen role has acted tonight.

I like the concept but this feels like worse spy

red dew
#

this is just base spy but a bit more direct

stark osprey
#

FUCK I forgot they added spy back mb I shouldn't be doing shit at 5am lmao

"Evil role"

#

"learn about #Jailor"

stark osprey
#

Completely ignores special ability 💀

Ew books

#

That’s not good criticism but this role is ass

#

It’s bad spy

obsidian rune
#

Librarian could be better if they could check to see if an evil role is in the game, but that drops off in value quickly

agile harness
#

it is also overpowered

stark osprey
#

Because if it's just finding out evils then it'll suffer the exact same problem sheriff has on late game which is having nothing else to find (at least on most lists)

#

Naturally, as you pointed, knowing if X or Y town roles are in or not is a huge deal since that can clear or out specific claimers instantly, which is why it's limited uses

agile harness
#

you essentially know to trust X's information with 100% certainty

#

and this can't be effected by enchanter/illu

#

this literally defies the entire point of role buckets

stark osprey
agile harness
agile harness
#

not useful at all

drowsy pawn
#

this shouldn't be able to confirm townies

agile harness
#

and ench is legit random luck

agile harness
drowsy pawn
#

also I don't see why we're creating a new ti

agile harness
#

the confirming if X townie role in play actually just removes counterplay

drowsy pawn
#

I feel like any concept you can come up with should just be a psy rework

stark osprey
agile harness
#

which doesn't happen because CU and CD aren't apparent

#

CL and hex aren't apparent either

drowsy pawn
#

this can check for enchanter or something n1 then just spend the next couple nights claim checking and chain confirming with other ti claims

agile harness
#

like the optimal strategy as this role is

N1 - enchanter
N2 - confirm a diff ti, hang if not in play
N3 - conf a diff ti, hang if not in play
N4 - confirm a TP/TS

stark osprey
#

Again it has 2 uses, not that it matters much

agile harness
#

oh true

#

so n3 you just confirm a TI and still win the game instantly

#

like you either hang 2 evils, 1f1 or confirm two townies

stark osprey
#

There's still counterplay tho: 1) if X role has multi claimers then said role is unreliable to check, cus you'll know it exists but won't know if both are conf. 2) if the role you check for gets rbd or stumbles on an UO you won't be able to conf their existence.

agile harness
#

for 1 you don't check roles that have more than 1 claimer

#

and for 2 you deadass just know they're telling the truth in most scenarios

drowsy pawn
#

the flipside of the issue is that this also heavily restricts evil claimspace

agile harness
#

if you can confirm the rb/UO

drowsy pawn
#

like if you wanna claim sheriff, you basically have to make sure there's an actual sheriff first

#

otherwise you're screwed

agile harness
#

this also makes tav baker and Pois an even worse trio

drowsy pawn
agile harness
#

because now you just check for Tav and any rbers are Pois/Baker

#

^ if there is no tav
