for the kids thing: A pride event in a game is just cosmetic and maybe some limited items. Some of those kids are queer themselves or have queer family members, so it actually means something to them to see it in a game they enjoy.

The "just for goofing off" point isn't fair in the slightest. Games add themed events all the time. Halloween, christmas, seasonal stuff. A pride event is the same thing, it doesn't change what the game is, just adds something fun.
And on the "religious" part; a game including something isn't the same as asking you to "agree" with it (whatever that means) or change who you are. A pride event isn't going to make anyone gay. Christians and other religious players aren't being asked to do anything, believe anything, or give anything up. you can just not participate and the game is completely the same for you.

Nobody loses anything if it happens but for some players it makes a genuine difference between feeling welcome in the community or not, which seems worth a lot to me.

I'm not entirely sure but i've seen many many times that the devs wont add anything related to this, or anything that has controversy, since it'll just cause problems.

If only a small part of the community is a pride member and the other part would be neutral or hate it
I would be the smarter change to just avoid the update because I would bring more drama or people just not caring compared to the support

the game has always been pretty supportive

and there's many more

but like if you're in the lgbtq community

why are you against a pride update?

Because it would cause more drama in the community than anything

It sounds really good, theoretically helping a small portion of the community

But then there’s gonna be the larger portion of the community that will just hate it

And especially with all the items and Yeeps it’s gonna become hateful real quick

Like for example, some person could go into a PVP mode wearing a pride cosmetic and then just get bullied and get called terrible things for wearing it

It would just make the pride people of the community, not want to wear their cosmetics
And then would make the non-pride people of the community hate on Yeeps as a whole game entirely

thats a huge overexaggerating

in reality people would not care much if you used pride cosmetics or not

only a loud minority

which would get banned

since yeeps is actually moderated

and people already make pride themed items and gear if what you said really would happen every time then i feel like their wouldn't be whole community world's dedicated to making pride themed items

you're trying to match hate other games who do poor pride updates and setting that as the maximum bar for other games, when games like subway surfers, dragon adventures, dead by daylight, elements divided and rec room all have pride updates yet don't face the mountains of hate you claim

I’ve seen it happen
I’ve been in PVP lobbies or just normal lobbies people will pull out pride, banners, or say that they’re in the pride community
And then, if it’s PVP, everyone will just target them or just kick them
And if it’s in a normal lobby, people will say horrible stuff to them

It is a terrible thing, but it already happens and we don’t even have a pride update
