I feel like as more and more people get VR headsets, the more children start playing Yeeps, and Gorilla Tag, and Animal Company, and other social related VR games. I am not saying this is a Yeeps problem, more of a Meta problem. But, if Meta will continue to do absolutely nothing about it, I feel like at least one or two games should at least have some form of way to identify if a player is 1; under 10 (in that case, ban their account), or 2; between the ages of 10-12 (in that case, either ban them, or if they have a PMA and are 10-12, have some form of restriction on their account). I know Yeeps has some shape or form of PMA restrictions like, under 13 lobbies, no voice, etc.

Almost every parkour, puzzle, hang out, or just any community world I visit, has at least one child who isn't supposed to have a VR headset. Meta clearly states in their TOS that children must be over 13 to have a regular account, and children who are 10-12 to have a PMA account. Although, Meta does not seem to enforce this. The only time I have seen this happen is when Nugget (from Milk Nugget) almost had his entire account deleted because Meta thought that he was underage.

The amount of times I have seen underage people who aren't supposed to have a VR headset, and I send a ticket with proof, almost nothing happens. I sent one in, and then someone said they will handle it, and they did nothing about it over the span of 2 weeks. I know moderation is hard, and handling tickets is hard too, but the ticket was about child safety.

This is why I feel like Yeeps should step up, and have some form of indentification on who is allowed to play the game or not. Every one in a while, Yeeps should remind the player on startup that if you are under 10, you are NOT allowed to play. I know this may sound Gorilla Tagish, but it's about child safety.

@balmy lotus I’m not necessarily the most qualified to talk on the subject, but even as someone who doesn’t do moderation tickets I see lots of players being banned for being underaged, so it does get dealt with regularly

The moderators have a procedure for it and they act on these cases often

The issue comes when people just argue that they’re underaged based on voice/personality, which is not accurate, fair, or really defensible

However on a PMA the restrictions you have are dependent on the parent, so it’s possible for them to have voice chat and such

So all it really comes down to is confirming that they have a PMA and that they have parental consent, which is what it takes to get “unbanned” from being underage (aka making a new account)

this is moreso an issue with how meta handles services like the microphone and game access for users, if anything were to be done it'd be on meta's side to require verification

gorilla tag actually took the furthest age protection mechanism outside of literal ID verification which is something very few people would be willing to do even if they were old enough due to concerns of data safety

theres also just the fact that meta doesnt care about underage users accessing games on their service because thats a majority of their install base and spenders

maybe at least microphones could be limited until verified but it really shouldnt be the responsibility of the games to resolve a systemic issue if this is warranted at all

not to say that the rule against underage users should be ignored but it's not really worth pursuing something like this to affect a very thin amount of users who would genuinely be endangered from the social experiences, and to that end strengthening protections against users who would be dangerous which effect everyone regardless of age makes more sense

its a really slippery slope but the most the yeeps devs can do is talk to meta themselves if they at all can (i'd assume theyd have some connections being one of the top games)

Tbh I think the only real problem with underage people playing is the older people saying bad stuff
