The antlion mob behaves uniquely from a regular mob, instead of directly targeting a player or beacon, it just hides.

FUNCTION: When spawned in, the antlion walks to a random point on the map and burrows into the ground, it will avoid yeeps during this. The antlion disguises as a healing item (medkit, health bottle) and is hidden under the ground, if a yeep gets within 3 blocks of the disguise, it lunges out of the ground (giving you a very small amount to time to get away) and snatches you.
Once it grabs you the antlion shakes, slams and bites on you, dealing 200 500 cotton each second, it will keep doing this until

  1. You die
  2. You hit it a couple times with any weapon
  3. You use a movement item that is strong enough to pull you away (grappler, firework etc.)
  4. Someone else hits the antlion
    If one of these things happen it will let go and burrow into the ground again and disguise.

EXTRA STUFF:

  • it cannot die
  • there can only be a max of 3-5 of these on every map

an antlion is a larvae that lives in the ground making cone shaped holes of sand that can make small creaturs slip into a hole were it dwells

If we just renamed it to centipede and had a seperate bug named antlion as said earlier how it works is larvae stage (sucks players in and is melee only and sometimes spits) and when it grows up it goes out of ground and flys around charging at players melee damage
