#The Zone Copier is a MASSIVE disappointment (in my situation, at least)

This would definitely make it more useful
Pls
I canāt stress enough how much i NEED this and itās so close to actually being in the game. PLEASE
and im gonna be honest, there is no legitimate reason for it to not have this feature, other than the devs simply forgetting to add it or the devs WANTING to make the experience that much more inconvenient still š
We waited like 9 months 4 this
fr, all for it to come in the form of THIS
this feels like a game of monkeyās paw š«©āļø
Yeah
The Zone Copier is a MASSIVE disappointment (in my situation, at least)
That would be a very good addition! š
My guess is that it would of been very technologically difficult to make it save between rooms
i feel like if theyāre able to get room copy n pasters to work (which save WAY more blocks btw), they should definitely be able to get this to work
although im not a yeeps dev, thatās just me guessing
they save an entire map whereas the zone copier only saves part. which most likely makes it more complex. i have never dabbled in development so i'm probably wrong.
@willow ridge @round cargo Since you aren't Lab Rats, I guess you wouldn't have known but
I don't doubt it'd be powerful, but we still believe in the restriction that every map you build was built either from the ground up or based off of a template (aka a fully copied map rather than just a bunch of pasted components).
Allowing you to zone copy anything from anywhere just breaks things too much imo and discourages the direct, hands-on building that I think makes Yeeps what it is.
Plus while we do like that players can (and do) build with blocks they don't own, we think that allowing you to zone copy a bunch of blocks from a map and then put it into your map breaks things quite a bit. So right now, we think that if you're going to bring in blocks you don't own, you either need to bring them in by hand (and then do your copying) or start with a vault of blocks and then build around it.
This make a lot of sense.
It makes sense however brings how useful the block is down.
In my case, i already have built all my wiring from the ground up with blocks i already own, i mainly need this feature so i dont have to make the SAME wiring contraption across several different maps as soon as one needs a bug fix (in my cw, each map follows the same spell system i built)
maybe add a restriction that you can only paste components from maps you already own to another map you also own?
I mean yeah, but that doesn't mean it's not still useful
It is a bit less useful because of this restriction though.
I mean that's the idea
The ownership thing is one aspect of it, and I recognize that there are plenty of use cases for the feature
But I still think that we're not at a stage where making Yeeps building component-based is better for the game experience as a whole
It's not really about convenience, it's about the experience that comes with building it by hand, and while some builds are more about the final result than the process of making them, I think most builds ARE fun to make, which is why it's so important to focus on that side of things
So far I've only used the zone copier to share smaller builds I made in the wilds back in the lab
Especially as you could build something just to discover that it doesn't fit in the current map but another one.
I know
I'm not saying it wouldn't be useful, I just think it wouldn't be healthy
as iāve said before, this could be something only im experiencing due to my circumstances, but in my experience, the experience and fun that comes with building by hand only really comes about when youāre building the structure for the first time with how the creativity/idea-making side of the building actually comes into play, rather than meticulously looking back and forth from the picture of your structure to the current map to copy said structure (which is what i ended up doing as a work-around for copying structures from map to map in the past with how messy my wiring can get), which ends up feeling like a tedious and monotonous experience in comparison to building an entirely new structure. However, i understand having the authenticity of builds take priority here.
ok but this would have been helpful for getting rare blocks if it worked to where it could paste stuff from other maps
because its annoying to have to copy a map then go into a private code and then go into wilds and then come back to put the block in my man
Make The zone copier usable in wilds
Real, its the worst item in the game and I thought it would be really good
Not the worst
I built a contraption in a wilds lobby that I wanted to share instead of having to paste in a whole map only for it to not work
That's a bit over dramatic
It's a pretty strong contender
no?
People are just upset bc they can't copy from world to world
Name a singular item worse then the zone copier, ill wait
which is fine be me
Its barely useful
Name a singular item worse then the zone copier lol
Let's me re-range some stuff
Item not gadget
1x4 wood block
how is that useless bro
the zone copier is the most situational block in the game and the 1x4 wood block is actually helpful
so you're argument is invalid lol
Bruv just leave it alone lol
who cares if a silly block doesn't work how you want it to work
At least we got it
š
Yeah because it barely works lmao
š
Maybe allowing copying from your own worlds might be alright.
Just make it so you can copy across your worlds
i realize i probably should have included this at the start of this thread, but these are the wiring structures i made myself that i have been needing to copy and paste into the other mapsā¦
with the max block count being as low as it is, i canāt make them less cramped/hard to make out with out filling said count up even more or sacrificing a couple of receiver colors that iāve already used for other contraptions that need them
š
What?
This is a horrible point and when someone put up a good point you responded with a thumbs up emoji as if the person youāre debating started the discussion
Which you started btw
I just don't wanna argue š¤·āāļø
mbmb
Thatās just me though I donāt want to argue either
You could juggle 2 maps in one room then copy a zone, reducing the limit.
i physically CANT do that with these maps, each one is about 5,500 blocks
(He had to sacrifice every yeeps 2 legs to reduce the block count by 500 blocks, thatās why yeeps donāt have legs)
Wdym?
You copy the map you want a zone from, then you go to the map you want the zone in, then copy, then paste, then accept both of them after, then you copy the zone you want, then copy, then paste, then accept both of them after, then paste the zone and voila!
hold on a second⦠you might be on to somethingā¦
lemme go try ts rq
