The blankets won't have physics or anything like that, if they are attached to something on all corners while horizontal you can place it and it gives the speed-boost when stepped on, if you attach it on 2 top corners while vertical you can, but you can also walk through it.
I had to say this because I realize there's confusion in the part where you pass through it.
