The turret has another item that comes when you buy it, and it is called the Controller
what the turret does
It has 30 bullets in pellet gun logic, which translates to 1,500 stuffing.
The turret does nothing on its own, but when activated by the Controller, it will shoot the target people/person.
what controller does
Once you press the power on button, located on top and to the right of it, it will expand the screen and give you a bunch of options. On the top it will say Target:, under it will be some buttons and here is what they will say.

If seekers is pressed, the sentry will only target seekers. If hiders is pressed it will only target hiders. If all is selected it will target everyone but the person who placed it. If none is selected it will target no one.
Select will have you point at someone, (it will give you a confirmation popup) and it will make the sentry only target them.
Finally, here are some extra details
The sentry must be on top of a block or it will fall
you can refill a sentry's stuffing by holding a button ontop of it for 3 seconds, then it will stop shooting and take stuffing away from you
