#Changes to Moderation

It's impossible for them to clear every message
People have stuff to do
Even if moderation was granted to the in game moderators, you could say the same for the discord aswell
If they did have permission they'd still not be able to verify that every message is good too.
They’re not going to clear every message, that’s not the point. It will however make it easier for mods to moderate regardless of what medium they’re using at the time.
Yes but the other moderators already have to do their in game duties, or they probably face demotion.
Adding on server moderation would just be annoying and more of a workload
And
Some mods have both in game and server moderator roles so this is kinda of already there
If they wanted to moderate more they could ask for either roles
What? It’s not more of a workload. I don’t think you understand my point
Wdym lol
They're moderating the discord
It is an extra workload
And they might have to do 11-20+ hours a week in the game or in the server
Dunno the exact amount
It is an extra workload, and they would probably be required to work sometime if they had the discord moderator role
No they wouldn’t. That’s what I’m saying.
If an in-game mod stopped by in the discord and saw something that broke community guidelines, they should be able to act quickly without needing to go through regular avenues to contact discord moderators. They’re already trusted members of the community, they should have the permissions to, if other people break community guidelines, punish those players accordingly.
That’s all it is, no extra workload required
Then ping them?
And yes they would be required somewhat if they had the discord moderator role
Like giving them abilities to moderate is not what I'm against, it's just the fact that 1 missed message means the moderation isn't good enough with how it already is.
These are some of the most professional moderators I've ever seen before
if the moderation isn't good enough I don't know what will be.
And mod apps are out so that moderation in game is better, if they need discord moderators they'd probably do the same
Giving mods the ability to moderate regardless of what medium is the only thing I’m advocating for, and if you’re not against it then why are trying to argue?
Because, the moderators have other jobs to do.
It would be unnecessary if a mod could just ban or mute that user, no need to ping
What if a mod wasn't there
Then what do we do?
But if they do come across something inappropriate that isn’t in their jurisdiction, they should still be able to act on it.
That’s not a relevant hypothetical
Then you report them?
They'll eventually get banned
Wouldn't this get rid of discord mod?
No it won’t??
It would combine them
We’re talking about moderators, not casual users. It is a common situation yes, but in this case we would ping a mod and let them deal with it.
There would be no purpose of discord mod
Trusting somebody in-game and on Discord are two different things
No it wouldn’t, mods would still focus on their area of expertise
Then why not make discord moderators also in game moderators
What’s the difference?
Then why not do that for the other problem
Would it not be easier for a mod to mute somebody rather than asking someone else to do it?
It's not that hard to wait 10 seconds
The problem is that I’ve seen this issue first hand in the discord. An in-game mod was trying to mute somebody and it wasn’t working, and when he tried pinging the discord mods, they didn’t respond.
People aren't going to die over seeing smth nsfw or just weird
Then that's the discord mods being weird
You could apply the same to the game mods too
And that's where the different trusts of discord and game moderators split
It’s called child endangerment.
And I did.
So the discord mods should become game moderators too?
Still though, most people won't even see it.
It's inevitable to have weird people in communities who like to show children that.
No, the discord mods should maintain moderating on the discord, but if they ever play the game they should be able to punish players for breaking the rules.
With reports
Which is what everyone else uses
I used to be a moderator for a game that gave us permissions to moderate a server
And it wasn't some small game either
It was a pretty popular recroom game that make us do 20 hours a week
Now double that with server moderation and you don't have much time
It was so stressful to me
