#Animations

But do you want the game to die because the devs are focusing on superficial stuff like variant skins or new content so you can continue to do stuff and play the game?
While I do like the idea, they might do all of that slowly and over a long time.
On the contrary , it can die if you don't have anything to do after finishing everything in the game.
No, it is not, because we are constantly getting new content; while not daily, we at least get new content twice a month. If you are talking about quality-of-life updates, they will not be able to give you new game content, and that is when the game will die.
@wanton sable I agree that there should be more animations but the dev team consists of like 3 people...
2 coders and 1 guy who creates the new miscrits.
Idk if they expanded but we are still getting plenty despite the small manpower.
If this games gets a bigger fan base, I could see all crits having animations but right now I think they want to prioritize to bring back all the zones.
2 devs and like 4 or 5 artists but yeah exactly my point.
They got that many artists now? Damn! That's nice
For like a year I belive and I just noticed 1 left the server, don't know if the artists team.
What do you mean this state? Not having new content daily? Because if you're just rushing new content, then, of course, you don't have anything to do, but if you take your time, you will always have things to do until you get new content.
I agree, it should have, but its not a must have, at least not now in the stage of priority. In time to come, and I believe with the success of the game, the team can expand, and more time and allocation can be dedicated to such animations
Did you check my roles before you saying that I’m a newbie and when I entered this server? I think not.
And I’m also done because you don’t seem to understand that while people do think it’s a good idea, they don’t care for a redundant QoL update when there is still so much content that needs to be reintroduced into the game.
its literally the worst argue ive ever read
im agree with the suggest but its obviously not that important. imagine that everyone was waiting for the animations of the 1.0 and now 85% of players have them disable
at this point blud is ragebaiting for engagement, aint no way he is doubling down hard on animations being an absolute must and need currently when others have posited strong counter arguements to his claim. Hence the "you prolly started playing the game". I aint see such a dumb comment in so long lmao
If the animations are the most important things right now you may consider becoming an animator and doing them. They can't do several things at the same time because then nothing will work.
Small game --> little manpower --> slow development & have to chose what to focus on instead of being able to do everything at once
You make it sound through this suggestion that it's one of if not the most important thing that they should focus on right now.
It's a phrase, meaning that you should do things one by one and make them well instead of focusing on everything at once and doing a sloppy job.
If they are doing the animations then your suggestion make no sense. (I might be guessing now what your suggestion meant, You wanted them to prioritise the animations so that every crit have it's animation, which is exactly what I said)
At this point, you’re not really substantiating your point anymore, you’re just demanding agreement while dismissing any nuance that doesn’t fit your narrative.
I already said earlier that I partially support your overall notion, just with caveats and downsides attached to it. The issue is that you don’t seem willing to engage with those downsides at all. Instead of addressing arguments, you reduce everything to “upvote or downvote” as if discussion itself is the problem.
And about the “crying to my ears” line, irony is rich, considering you’re the one escalating the tone the moment someone pushes back on your claim.
And to be absolutely fair to you, my “ragebaiting” comment earlier was unnecessary and in bad faith, and I’ll own that and fully take that back. But at least I’m still engaging with the discussion directly. Meanwhile, you conveniently ignored Archion latest comment, Riso, and Ray while throwing passive-aggressive remarks to Archion like “you probably just started playing the game.” So what exactly was the goal there? Genuine discussion, or just talking down to people?
Because from the outside, it looks less like confidence and more like defensiveness disguised as smugness.
You’re free to disagree, but if your response to criticism is just insults and dismissiveness, then don’t pretend you’re here for an honest conversation.
As I said, it's one of the most important things, so that means alongside other things, it's as important. Also, my suggestion totally makes sense, but some people lack on understanding its meaning.
If they are doing animations, we wouldn't have unfinished crit animations, as well as not re-color versions for specifics.
As I said "They can't do several things at the same time", then why do we have some little animations currently alongside new contents?
So by that, they DO have time even if they are prioritizing other stuff, but rather ignore them.
Let's have a more constructive dialogue that focuses solely on this proposal and avoid getting personal.
Everyone has their own opinion in the discussion, and it's important not to dismiss it. We must respect all suggestions and ideas.
Please refrain from engaging in passive-aggressive dialogue and adhere to basic standards of decency.
My personal opinion: The idea seems generally logical and has been discussed many times. However, as mentioned earlier, there are no resources available for creating animations, let alone different types of animations for different types of miscrits. This is an important part of the gameplay, but people want new content much more than animations. If we wanted animations, it would have taken much longer to release new locations.
To start releasing new miscrits with their unique animations could be a nice compromise.
We would get new and existing animations, without extreme delays and seemingly endless resource sinkholes.
To address already existing miscrits without unique animations, perhaps a habit of 3-5 miscrits per update getting new animation could be introduced.
That way the whole development process wouldn't be delayed by "technical debt", while long term this would bring us to our goal.
(numbers in my post are examples, I do not know how much effort is needed per animation)
We’re cool, and I don’t really have any issue with you personally, but I still think there’s a disconnect between what you’re saying now and how you approached the discussion earlier. Nevertheless, there is no arguement here. It all honest and civil discussion till your remark to Archion.
I never claimed you were forcing agreement. My point was that reducing the conversation to “upvote or downvote” dismisses the value of actual discussion and criticism. People can agree with your broader point while still questioning parts of your reasoning or priorities behind it. But thats all cleared.
And to be more concise, I don’t even disagree that unfinished animations and inconsistent recolors are valid things to criticize. Those are fair points. The issue was never “you can’t care about animations.” The issue was the way opposing views got brushed aside as if anyone disagreeing just “started playing the game” or somehow didn’t understand it. That’s the part you still haven’t really addressed.
You also say “if you’re toxic, I’ll do it too,” but that doesn’t really line up with how the conversation started. Archion wasn’t insulting you when you made the passive-aggressive remark toward him, and that’s exactly why I brought it up earlier. If the goal is honest discussion, then people shouldn’t get talked down to just because they disagreed with your priorities.
And for what it’s worth, I already acknowledged my own “ragebaiting” comment was unnecessary and took responsibility for it. I’m just asking for that same level of accountability from your side too.
At the end of the day, nobody is saying animations are worthless. People are just disagreeing on urgency and resource allocation, which is a perfectly normal discussion to have without turning it into “you’re crying” or “you must be new.”
And for what it’s worth, I think this discussion ultimately comes down to prioritization, not whether animations have value at all.
Unfinished animations and missing polish are legitimate criticisms. Nobody is saying they should never be addressed. The question is whether they realistically occupy the same level of importance as core content, gameplay systems, balance, optimization, bug fixing, or long-term roadmap objectives from a development standpoint.
If you try to look at it from the developers’ perspective, there’s an obvious hierarchy of priorities. Resources, manpower, and time are finite. So naturally, certain things get pushed ahead of others depending on impact and necessity.
Would it really be better for them to rush out half-baked animation work just to satisfy immediate complaints, or to focus on delivering substantial content first and revisit polish-related issues later when resources allow for it to be done properly?
And realistically, that is probably what will happen anyway. There are already many Miscrits in the game that still lack proper final move animations or complete visual polish, and I highly doubt the developers have simply “forgotten” about them. More likely, those aspects are being deferred until they have the time and resources to revisit them properly instead of pushing out rushed work for the sake of immediacy.
That’s why I disagreed with the idea that animations are an absolute “must” right now. Important? Sure. Worth improving? Absolutely. But equal in urgency to core development priorities? I don’t think that’s a very convincing argument.
If we were to assign numerical priority values to different aspects of development, do you genuinely believe animation polish would rank equally with major gameplay content, system stability, balancing, and future roadmap progression? Because realistically, most development teams wouldn’t structure priorities that way.
And again, disagreement on priority does not mean people “don’t care” about improving the game overall. It just means they view certain improvements as secondary rather than immediate.
Fair enough, if your point was simply “this should be considered eventually” rather than “drop everything and do this immediately,” then I think that’s a much more reasonable position than how it initially came across. I don’t think anyone disagrees that unfinished animations and missing polish can be improved over time. Earlier you had the tone that it should be done with absolute concurrency.
As for the “demanding agreement” part, you’re right that I used that phrasing earlier, but the point I was making was about the way disagreement was being dismissed rather than literal coercion. I could’ve worded that more carefully, so that’s on me.
That said, I still think there’s a difference between disagreeing with someone and making remarks that come across as condescending. The “you probably just started playing the game” comment may not have been intended aggressively from your perspective, but context matters. When someone is explaining why they value other aspects of the game more than Arena or animations, responding with that line naturally sounds dismissive, as if their opinion only exists because they’re inexperienced.
That’s mainly why I brought it up earlier. Not because I think you’re forbidden from disagreeing, but because the tone of those remarks shifts the discussion away from the actual topic and toward talking down to people. Which is why Fred the moderator even intervened. Usually you don't see most mods interject in that manner unless only stating their views on the topic at hand.
At the end of the day, I think the disagreement here is honestly smaller than it first looked:
you think animation/polish issues shouldn’t be forgotten (which logically isn't, the developers aren't that shallow to avoid it, if they can create Lithos Big Bang animation from scratch, they can certainly do others, and its my favourite animation), others think they exist but should sit lower on the priority ladder for now.
Those positions aren’t mutually exclusive.
Great that we are on the same page now. If you recall elite hydra back in the day had its own hydra chomp animation for light and normal version (mainly just different coloured heads biting the opponent) would be a really nice touch.
I think the misunderstanding mainly came from how your original point was worded. Saying upfront that this was more of a “don’t forget about it in the future” suggestion rather than an immediate demand (as you seem to have insinuated at the very start) would’ve probably made your stance much easier for others to understand. And Minato's very tiny team can only do so much at one go. Heck if I had animation background and the know how to code these moves I would have applied for a part time remote job with their team to earn some expenses.
my bad not elite ekidna, I can't remember what animation they changed for one of them light/dark/foil/whatever variants but i remembered they had a change in visuals
