Depends on where you want to start with, I feel like there are a few good points to jump in. Magik and Storm 4 part miniseries from the 80s is her first intro if you want to go all the way back. Which would follow into the original Claremont’s New Mutants run. I started with the 2009 new mutants run since I already new a bit about her backstory. Probably the easiest to find in comic shops right now is the Magik 2025 solo, which is really good but also does assume you know a bit about her backstory

Uncanny X-men 2013 is when she first gets her modern, iconic outfit I think, and could be fun if you also like Cyclops and Emma Frost.

They usually write comics in a way that you can jump in at the start of a run, and not be too confused so I would honestly find whichever you are drawn to. Hope this helps

You can jump straight ahead into Immortal Hulk, if you’re unfamiliar with Hulk’s supporting characters, Al Ewing introduces them and explains who they are pretty easily for new readers

There’s some background stuff you can read that sets up some of the events in Immortal Hulk like

1. Civil War 2

2. Avengers: No Surrender (Avengers #675 - 690)

Other than that, its the complete package, go read it, its absolutely one of the best Hulk runs ever

And i’d also add in Immortal Thor too (unrelated) simply because Al Ewing is one of the GOAT writers around

for daredevil definitely start with millers "the man without fear" mini series, from there you can go wherever especially if you've seen the show and have a basic idea of who matt and his supporting cast are, I personally love the mark waid run from 2011 thats pretty popular but the bendis run that came out before it has stuff more similar to his rivals counterpart going on I think, both worth reading fs, and the zdarsky/chechetto arc from 2019 onwards is pretty cool imo as well with some incredible art if absolutely nothing else

oh and of course Miller's born again run is great

Tho you may find these aren't number ones and sometimes you'll be missing context in modern books (2000's and onwards) tho classic books don't have that issue since they're villain of the week almost

honestly it goes with any marvel comic u can just easily start at issue 1, and then go onwards, though the 60s are a bit rough of a decade to get through when it comes to comics, except for spiderman, amazing spiderman was really damn good. comics peaked in the 80s. that being said, daredevil up until the 70s wasnt too dark or gritty, it was when frank miller joined around issue 158, from then on u got the iconic villains of daredevil u know, etc, and daredevil got really mf good. so u can start there. Either that or you start with daredevil the man without fear, which is a five issue miniseries of comics that sorta depict season 1 of the show, like an origin story

What would be a lesser-known storyline you’d want Marvel/The MCU to adapt for the Mutant Saga?

I was once talking with a couple of friends and I have kind of come to the conclusion that I don't know that I want the MCU X-Men to adapt a big storyline for the mutants. I didn’t see X-Men go on a big cosmic adventure on the big screen. We already had Fantastic Four for that after Secret Wars. The general consensus is they don’t want to give Marvel a chance to do ‘Dark Phoenix’ and botch that storyline a third time. I don’t want to see Age of Apocalypse because I’m sure people may just see him as the X-Men’s Thanos or Darkseid (not in scope of threat, because that he is. I more mean the type of warmongering Titan type of villain).

I think I’d really like to see something completely unfamiliar. I’m really stuck on the concept of hidden gems right now. The DCU’s big story (or one of them) is going to be around Salvation. The concept comes from “Salvation Run” which was just a lead up to Infinite Crisis, the bigger story. Spider-Man: No Way Home, while very reliant on nostalgia, is an adaptation of One More Day that makes arguably the worst Spider-Man comic storyline of all time something great. I’d love to see more either unrecognized or “underrated” storylines like Mutant Massacre, Muir Island Saga, Messiah CompleX to get adapted by visionaries that can make them something special. So from other fans of the X-Men, what would some of those be for you?

marvel unlimited is the big official spot to read stuff online, though it isnt free. for where to start basically just choose a character you like based on the films or games and pick up a run you think looks neat, i have a couple recommendations for characters but im relatively new to comics myself. but really you dont have to care too much about continuity or timelines or whatever because comics just aren't really written like that. if you want to start with original issues like from the 60s you absolutely Can and theyre still pretty fun and readable but not necessarily relevant or as exciting as some of the more recent stuff

How can i get into comics i never watched or read something related to marvel i just like the game and i loved multiple characters because of it ,and i feel lost because i don't think there is a linear way like mangas for example one piece etc...

the most helpful piece of advice ive gotten about this is to think of comics less as one giant overarching story and ignore most continuity. pretty much every time a comic switches authors or starts a new #1, there isnt a ton of stuff from the previous run that matters enough to carry over, and if there is the comic will explain or tell you to go read it if youre interested. so the easiest way to get into comics is to find a book with a character you like and give it a chance, and then keep doing that until you find something you like

Honestly my biggest piece of advice is to find a character you like and read everything you can about them. I did it with moon knight, then the fantastic four, then Adam warlock, then Kitty Pryde, and so on etc etc

And then, once you find that character, you’ll usually find other things you want to read. For example, Kitty Pryde is how I got into the x men as a whole.

Find a cheap comic shop, usually comics are like 50¢ where I live, and just rummage through bins until you see something interesting. Also comic cons sometimes have bins of cheap comics!

I’d also recommend looking at some famous runs to get your feet wet as well.

Most of Magik’s appearances are in New Mutants, and then later some Avengers vs X-men into Uncanny X-men. There’s like 3 iterations of new mutants that I know of, the original Claremont run is the most famous. She only got her solo series with 10 chapters just this year so it makes sense not to see too much more of her by herself

Doctor Strange isn’t really a character I personally follow but Wolverine is a character I do but more in less direct setting since I follow the X- Men as a group if you are looking to actually get into these guys (and some people won’t like me saying this) Chat GPT can lowkey cook up some decent reading guides for getting you into characters and cutting through some of the less essential comics.

nope! try not to look at comics as something that you need all the knowledge for. it's a new series - every new series is kinda designed as a jumping on point for new readers. Sure, some stuff happened before which you won't know about, but that will always be the case unless you read from the moments the characters are born.

this particular series starts with the team split up after something has happened. don't worry, you aren't meant to know what it is, it will all be revealed. i'd really recommend giving it a go it's very good :]

Tho not all will get new releases but more sell a limited collection or more older stuff, it's a case of going in and checking until you find what you're looking for

For finding out what comics you're interested in obtaining for the week, a log, etc. There's an app called "Comic Geeks" that logs stuff like that and sends you emails to be like "hey, you put on the app that you want this book, it's coming out tomorrow"

but i would urge you to take my approach to it which is "dont worry about it" lol, if you wanna go back and find out more you can, but otherwise focus on the here and now (or wherever you're reading)

I forgot this channel existed. So as I was reorganizing my comics today, I forgot I had all 10 issues of AoU(plus 10.Ai) and all 9 main issues of Axis(Avengers VS Xmen). Also as I was reading and flipping through all these, the timeline of events is extremely wild and back to back.

2013-2014~:A.I Avengers

Guys I need to know all the names and covers for Rogue and Gambit comics. I want to start collecting them!

Gail Simmone's Uncanny X-Men is the most current
Rogue and Gambit (stuff will show up if you search their name up since I know they have a run under a name of that sort)
One of the X-Revelation books features Gambit mainly but has Rogue in it, not for long tho.
X-Men of Appocalypse (another current book) features them both yet Rogue didn't feature much in the last issue

Started with Whedon's Astonishing X-Men and it's been a struggle to find anything that comes close

@harsh hemlock ‘s suggestion is a solid option for the timeframe you listed, but I’d personally recommend starting with Giant-Size X-Men #1 (1975) and then continuing from there with X-Men Vol. 1 #94 so that you can enjoy the classic Chris Claremont era

I love me some Stan Lee, but you can definitely skip the 1960s X-Men and not really miss anything

Also I could only find a decent reading guide from comic book herald and it was a bit hard to follow (I’m pretty new to comics so I’m still learning how to follow along from series to series)

Yeah… I’d love to get more people into comics, but the writing style of older stories and occasionally chaotic publishing strategies can make it really hard to let people in

Then again, one of the advantages I find of older comics is that they were typically written with the mindset that “every comic is somebody’s first”, so that you could theoretically jump in wherever and not be completely lost as to what is happening

They, uh… stopped doing that as much around the 2000s, though

Ah yeah that actually does make sense, I’m mainly trying to learn as much as possible about earth 616. I looked up the chronological order and after seeing how much work I had, I was like wellllll maybe I should just go from character to character instead of trying to do all that 😂

that's the main reason i always recommend New X-Men for first time x-men readers, because as good as Claremont is I find the older style way harder to enjoy

although i think it works best if you have some previous x-men knowledge from the movies, games, or cartoons to be honest

The classic books can be an acquired taste, absolutely

My recommendation is to try an issue or two of those early Claremont books as plan “A” and then move over to Grant Morrison’s New X-Men if those ain’t working for ya

I would just hate for someone to miss out on those early stories if they can possibly get into those old rhythms

Smart strategy.

If you ever tire of the “one-character-at-a-time” strat and just want to speed-run a basic understanding of 616, I would also recommend Mark Waid’s 2019 series History of the Marvel Universe

It is only 6 issues long and details the entire chronological history of the 616 from the beginning of time to 2099 (and adds in-universe lore to explain continuity issues brought about by the sliding timescale)

I’m definitely the type of person who gotta start at the beginning of a story and I’m tryna do that with at least the amazing Spider-Man run from 1963 to 1998

Well firstly i loved the art style of it - it looks so good but story wise it takes venom away from the spider man villian ark which in my opinion was really good. It was sooo needed - And it gives venom his own standout story and just makes him really interesting to learn about as a character, some people say it feels a lot the the flash thompson agent venom which i would agree it has a lot in mind with that so basically its just a really cool story and reimagines venom really well

The flash thompson stories are also a good read too

this is optional but space knight venom or anything with agent venom in ghe guardians of the galaxy run is honestly pretty good. I like the whole Flash Thompson redemption and the way they kind of spun his character he still could be doing way more nowadays but you could just read anything agent venom most of it is pretty good also he has good banter with Spidey

I think i figured out how to make Eddie Brock work in a modern Spider-Man adaptation.

He's Peter's mentor/friend when he's hired for the Bugle. Peter takes the job because he's Spidey and thinks it'll be easy, but Eddie helps him out and actually shows him how to take good photos. The better Peter gets, however, the more Eddie gets shafted. Peter then gets the symbiote and Eddie is officially fired. Peter doesn't think much of it since he's high on space goo and Eddie's life falls apart

Alternatively, Eddie using AI to frame Spidey for a crime would be an interesting angle to take instead of the plagiarism plotline.

Venom: Lethal Protector (1993) is another solid choice. It’s Eddie Brock’s first solo series and only 6 issues.

Not to be confused with Venom: Lethal Protector Vol. 2 (2022) or Venom: Lethal Protector II (2023)

Plus he’s like the ultimate strangest so it feels appropriate to give him that as a role with his primary being a sword

Oh absolutely on the 2024 run the Huston and finch one run is good too mainly cuz I shows alot of great moments of the character and the run really gets into marks flaw and his relationships with his side cast specifically frenchy

Highly recommend the Warren Ellis run cuz it my personal favorite of any moon knight run

She's just boring to me. And that comic where an insecure Reed breaks into her lab only to get one upped and humiliated at every turn makes me wanna hurl the writer off a cliff.

Listen, i get it, it's easier to call your character better than the last guy instead of putting in any of the work. But please, just make the character at least a 10th as interesting on a continuing basis.

I don't buy Lunella being smarter than Reed, or Doom, or Stark, or Hank, or Hank, or Banner. It all just feels like "I'm saying she is the smartest person because i, the writer, am saying it, and it is being published."

Especially with how TERRIBLE Reed is depicted in the comic.

It's like the writers never picked up a Fantastic Four book in their life, and just want to make Reed an idiotic scapegoat to make Moon Girl look good. And considering how often Moon Girl is depicted as a snotty, arrogant little jerk, makes for some FANTASTIC story telling.

Sooo... yeah. I wanna punt Moon Girl across a football field.

But what i love about Moon Girl is that... everybody completely ignores how she's apparently the smartest if the crossover isn't explicitly about her

If they do add the Green Goblin to the game, it could make for an interesting little curveball if they used Phil Urich (the third and HEROIC Green Goblin) instead of either of the Osbornes as the character’s base skin

Phil has all of the tech and powers of the other Green Goblins, plus his paralyzing “lunatic laugh” (which could work similarly to either Hulk’s “Radioactive Lockdown” or Dr. Strange’s ultimate)
