It says “win matches with 3 or less strength” so you just have to finish the match (with the victory) with 3 or less strength, it doesn’t specify you having to win a match with a character specifically with less than 3 strength

Stances are simply tweaking a legend’s stats slightly to lean in a direction you would like to go

With stances, Magyar wouldn’t be a 10 defense legend, or Xull wouldn’t be a 10 attack legend, and all the legends having a set stat unique to them would be quite stagnant

I say all that to say,
Yes you can use stances to complete that challenge 😆
